چکیده

[1] Variations in the speed and elemental and ionic charge composition of the solar wind are reported throughout the solar cycle, as observed by the SWICS instrument on Ulysses. The apparent bimodal nature of the solar wind during the solar minimum does not persist throughout the solar cycle. Rather, with increasing solar activity, a continuum of solar wind speeds and charge states is observed. The exception is the elemental composition which is noticeably less enhanced in elements with low first ionization potential (FIP) in material from coronal holes throughout the solar cycle. These observations are consistent with theories in which the solar wind originates from coronal loops that reconnect with open magnetic field lines.

Global distribution of the solar wind during solar cycle 23: ACE observations

[1] The composition of the solar wind can be used to determine its origin at the Sun; e.g., solar wind from coronal holes has demonstrably lower charge states than solar wind of other origins. The O/O ratio as measured by Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) during 1998– 2008 is used to divide the solar wind into three categories: non-transient solar wind from coronal holes (hereafter referred t...

Solar wind driving of magnetospheric ULF waves: Field line resonances driven by dynamic pressure fluctuations

[1] Several observational studies suggest that solar wind dynamic pressure fluctuations can drive magnetospheric ultralow‐frequency (ULF) waves on the dayside. To investigate this causal relationship, we present results from Lyon‐Fedder‐Mobarry (LFM) global, three‐dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations of the solar wind–magnetosphere interaction. These simulations are driven with syn...

Application of azo dye as sensitizer in dye-sensitized solar cells

An azo dye used as photosensitizers in Dye-sensitized solar cells DSSCs. Azo dyes economically superior to organometallic dyes because they are color variation and cheap. The spectrophotometric evaluation of an azo dye in solution and on a TiO2 substrate show that the dye form J-aggregation on the nanostructured TiO2 substrate. Oxidation potential measurements for used azo dyes ensured an energ...

Solar Latitudinal Distribution of Solar Flares around the Sun and Their Association with Forbush Decreases during the Period of 1986 to 2003

Solar flare events of high importance were utilised to study solar latitudinal frequency distribution of the solar flares in northern and southern hemisphere for the solar cycle 22 to recent solar cycle 23. A statistical analysis was performed to obtain their relationship with sudden storm commencement (SSCs) and Forbush decrease events (Fd) of cosmic ray intensity. An 11-year cyclic variation ...
