چکیده

Currently existing monitoring services for Grid infrastructures typically collect information from local agents and store it as data sets in global repositories. However, for some scenarios querying real-time streams of monitoring information would be extremely useful. In this paper, we evaluate Complex Event Processing technologies applied to real-time Grid monitoring. We present a monitoring system which uses CEP technologies to expose monitoring information as queryable data streams. We study an example use case – monitoring for job rescheduling. We also employ CEP technologies for data reduction, measure the overhead of monitoring, and conclude that real-time Grid monitoring is possible without excessive intrusiveness for resources and network.

Event Driven Monitoring for Service Composition Infrastructures

We present an event-based monitoring approach for service composition infrastructures. While existing approaches mostly monitor these infrastructures in isolation, we provide a holistic monitoring approach by leveraging Complex Event Processing (CEP) techniques. The goal is to avoid fragmentation of monitoring data across different subsystems in large enterprise environments by connecting vario...

Running ATLAS workloads within massively parallel distributed applications using Athena Multi-Process framework (AthenaMP)

AthenaMP is a multi-process version of the ATLAS reconstruction, simulation and data analysis framework Athena. By leveraging Linux fork and copy-on-write mechanisms, it allows for sharing of memory pages between event processors running on the same compute node with little to no change in the application code. Originally targeted to optimize the memory footprint of reconstruction jobs, AthenaM...

Event Processing in Policy Oriented Data Grids

Data Grids are used for managing massive amounts of data (Peta scale) that are distributed across heterogeneous storage systems. As such they are complex in nature and deal with multiple operations in the life-cycle of a data set from creation to usage to preservation to final disposition. Administering a data grid can be very challenging (not only for system administrators, but also for data p...
