Solubility Enhancement of Phosphorus from Rock Phosphate through Composting with Poultry Litter
نویسنده
چکیده
Improving solubility of rock phosphate is critical for phosphorus (P) management in cropping. This experiment was conducted during 2010 to determine the P solubilized from rock phosphate (RP) through composting with fresh poultry litter (PL). The RP used in the experiment was collected from Hazara area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, Pakistan. The treatments comprised of PL alone, PL+RP, and PL+RP+ Effective Microorganism (EM). Each treatment had 3 replicates. The compost was prepared in excavated pits of 3.13 m size in anopen field for 120 days. The results showed that Mehlic-3 extractable P was significantly higher in the treatments PL+RP+EM, and PL+RP both at day45 and day120 of the incubation, compared to PL only. The increase in available P in treatment PL+RP+ EM was 55.2% and 928.6% over PL+RP and Control, on day120 compared to day0, respectively. Likewise, the increasing trend with time was higher in the treatments where RP was added to PL, irrespective of the treatments, compared to the control where no RP was added. The P availability enhancement in treatment PL+RP+EM with time could be due to the enhanced microbial activities of EM which have solubilize phosphate rock. Contrary to the available P, the nutrient content of nitrogen (N), Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and C:N decreased with the time in all the treatments. There was a significant decrease in pH values in the treatment of PL+RP+EM. The results of the study suggest that composting of PL with RP has the potential to enhance available P content of the compost or RPR. The Effect on the Citric Solubility of Langebaan Phosphorite (lanigebaan Phosphate Rock) When Composted with Filter Cake
Dymond's 1951 compost experiments with filter cake and Langebaan phosphate rock were continued in 1952. Composting increased the citric solubility of the phosphoric oxide in the rock, although not to .the same extent as in the 1951 experiments. Citric solubility decreased with increasing quantities of phosphate rock. Field trials on sugar cane in Natal have been initiated to determine the avail...

Environmental impacts of composting poultry litter with chemical amendments at the field scale have not been well quantified. The objectives of this study were to measure (i) P runoff and (ii) forage yield and N uptake from small plots fertilized with composted and fresh poultry litter. Two composting studies, aerated using mechanical turning, were conducted in consecutive years. Composted litt...

Poultry litter applications to land have been based on crop N requirements, resulting in application of P in excess of plant requirements, which may cause degradation of water quality in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. متن کاملEffect of chemical and microbial amendments on ammonia volatilization from composting poultry litter.
Research has shown that aluminum sulfate (alum) and phosphoric acid greatly reduce ammonia (NH3) volatilization from poultry litter; however, no studies have yet reported the effects of these amendments on field-scale composting of poultry litter. The objectives of this study were to (i) evaluate NH3 volatilization from composting litter by measuring both NH3 volatilization and changes in total...

Differences in the properties of organic phosphorus (P) sources, particularly those that undergo treatment to reduce soluble P, can affect soil P solubility and P transport in surface runoff. This 2-yr field study investigated soil P solubility and runoff P losses from two agricultural soils in the Mid-Atlantic region after land application of biosolids derived from different waste water treatm...
