High-sensitive cardiac troponins in patients undergoing cardiac surgery: friend or foe?
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods After ethics’ committee approval and written informed consent all adult patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery between February and November 2014 were included. Exclusion criteria were urgent surgery, GFR < 60 ml/min/1.73m2), CK-MB > 4 Î1⁄4g/L and/or Hs-cTn > 14 ng/L at baseline. Hs-cTn and CK-MB were measured before induction of anaesthesia (baseline), upon arrival in the ICU and at 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, 24 and 48 hrs after arrival. ECGâTs were independently reviewed by two blinded cardiologist. Patients with peri-operative AMI as defined by the third universal definition of AMI (10 × 99th percentile of URL for CK-MB) were excluded for post hoc analysis [2].

Does percutaneous nephrolithotomy cause elevated cardiac troponins?
BACKGROUND Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is the treatment of choice in large and staghorn renal stones, and myocardial infarction is one the possible complications during and after the surgery. We investigated if renal and skeletal muscle injury, caused by percutaneous nephrolithotomy, can cause elevation in cardiac troponins (cTn). METHODS This study was conducted on otherwise healthy patient...
متن کاملVolatile Anesthesia for the pediatric brain: friend or foe?
The story of volatile anesthetics being “friendly” for the brain originated many years ago with the observation that anesthetized patients seemed to experience minimal or no neurologic injury after cardiac arrest. In the ensuing years, animal cerebral ischemia models were studied to evaluate volatile anesthesia neuroprotection. (1) Although cardiac arrest rarely occurs in pediatric anesthesia, ...
متن کاملPeak postoperative troponin levels outperform preoperative cardiac risk indices as predictors of long-term mortality after vascular surgery Troponins and postoperative outcomes.
BACKGROUND The utility of postoperative troponins as an independent predictor of long-term mortality after vascular surgery is unknown. METHODS One hundred sixty-four consecutive patients underwent vascular surgery and postoperative mortality was determined at 2.5 years. Troponins were drawn within 48 hours postsurgery and the peak levels, defined by the upper reference limit (URL), were cate...

ABSTRACT Nervous system is high resistent, but is vulnerable and sensitive. Nervous system in cardiac surgery may be distracted due to hypoxia or embolism. The cardiac surgery developed in the last decades, and its complications require the necessary imformation for prophylaxia and treatment. This crosssectional prospective study has been done in in cardiac surgery section on about 500 patien...
متن کاملProblems of Cold Agglutinins in Cardiac Surgery: How to Manage Cardiopulmonary Bypass and Myocardial Protection
Cold agglutinins are of unique relevance in cardiac surgerybecause of the use of hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Cold autoimmune diseases are defined by the presence of abnormal circulating proteins (usually IgM or IgA antibodies) that agglutinate in response to a decrease in body temperature. These disorders include cryoglobulinemia and cold hemagglutinin disease.Immunoglobulin M aut...
