Natural linearization for corrosion identification

چکیده
We consider the numerical solution of a nonlinear problem arising in in nondestructive detection of a corrosion at a hidden surface of a conductor. The problem can be naturally linearized and reduced to an elliptic Cauchy problem. In this paper we describe and test a regularized reconstruction algorithm based on a regularization by discretization, where the discretization level is chosen in data driven way. Marine Octocoral Phyllogorgia dilatata: Identification of Sesquiterpenes and Activity as a Natural and Renewable Corrosion Inhibitor
In the context of highly efficient, non-toxic and natural organic corrosion inhibitors, Phyllogorgia dilatata was studied as an anticorrosive for mild steel in acid medium. The marine octocoral crude extract (PDCE) was characterized and analyzed by LC-HRMS, revealing the presence of 16 different organic molecules. The corrosion inhibition was evaluated via weight loss study and electrochemical ...
متن کاملLinearization of a Nonlinear Periodic Boundary Condition Related to Corrosion Modeling
We study galvanic currents on a heterogeneous surface. In electrochemistry, the oxidation-reduction reaction producing the current is commonly modeled by a nonlinear elliptic boundary value problem. The boundary condition is of exponential type with periodically varying parameters. We construct an approximation by first homogenizing the problem, and then linearizing about the homogenized soluti...
متن کاملAdaptive Input-Output Linearization Control of pH Processes
pH control is a challenging problem due to its highly nonlinear nature. In this paper the performances of two different adaptive global linearizing controllers (GLC) are compared. Least squares technique has been used for identifying the titration curve. The first controller is a standard GLC based on material balances of each species. For implementation of this controller a nonlinear state...
متن کاملEarly detection of oxidized surfaces using Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 as a tool.
Corrosion is a natural global problem of immense importance. Oxidation of iron and steel not only compromises the structural stability of a widely used and versatile material but it also creates an abrasive compound (iron oxide) that can score the surfaces of metals, rendering them useless for the purpose for which they were designed. Clearly, the identification of corrosion in its nascent stag...
متن کاملCoordinated Planning and Scheduling of Electricity and Natural Gas Systems
In this paper we propose a model for coordinated planning of power and natural gas systems, as a part of electricity supply chain. This model takes into account costs and constraints of both systems, and with hiring simplifications and linearization methods transforms initially nonlinear formulation to a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problem. Natural gas would be assumed steady state,...
