Andrew D. Booth - Britain's Other "Fourth Man"
نویسنده
چکیده
Andrew Donald Booth (1918-2009) was the leader of a team of computer pioneers at Birkbeck College in the University of London, UK. Booth worked with limited resources, both human and financial, and concentrated on building smaller machines. This paper presents an outline of his career in the UK which, the author believes, has not received the attention it deserves in comparison to a number of his UK contemporaries.

The first MT patents
Today machine translation means using a computer to translate natural languages. But it was not always so. The first suggestions that languages could be translated mechanically were made before electronic digital computers were even dreamt of. While the real history of MT began in March 1947 with correspondence between Warren Weaver and Norbert Wiener and with tentative discussions between Weav...

متن کاملHigh speed Radix-4 Booth scheme in CNTFET technology for high performance parallel multipliers
A novel and robust scheme for radix-4 Booth scheme implemented in Carbon Nanotube Field-Effect Transistor (CNTFET) technology has been presented in this paper. The main advantage of the proposed scheme is its improved speed performance compared with previous designs. With the help of modifications applied to the encoder section using Pass Transistor Logic (PTL), the corresponding capacitances o...

This paper demonstrates that in man, as in the rat, increasing amounts of fat reach more distal levels of the small intestine as the dietary load increases.

We develop a number of alternative discounted cash flow approaches to the appraisal of overrented property. These reveal the complicated risk characteristics and option characteristics of over-rented property, indicating that more sophisticated appraisal techniques are necessary.
