چکیده

Background Ungated myocardial perfusion is a promising alternative for simplifying CMR protocols [1]. Spatio-temporal total variation (TV) constrained reconstruction with radial undersampling was used in a pilot study [2]. And TV constraints combined with a low-rank constraint have shown improvement in some cases for gated perfusion imaging [3]. However, the temporal total-variation constraint may not effectively resolve undersampling artifacts in ungated studies with significant cardiac and respiratory inter-frame motion. A patch-based low-rank method can more effectively exploit redundancies in a dynamic dataset in the form of spatio-temporal patches rather than one large rectangular matrix with an entire image per column. The patch-based method (also termed locally low rank or blockwise low rank) was recently shown to improve upon the standard low-rank constraint in cardiac cine and perfusion imaging [4,5]. Here we adapt a patch-based low-rank method for ungated myocardial perfusion imaging and use it in conjunction with TV constraints.

Localized spatio-temporal constraints for accelerated CMR perfusion.

PURPOSE To develop and evaluate an image reconstruction technique for cardiac MRI (CMR) perfusion that uses localized spatio-temporal constraints. METHODS CMR perfusion plays an important role in detecting myocardial ischemia in patients with coronary artery disease. Breath-hold k-t-based image acceleration techniques are typically used in CMR perfusion for superior spatial/temporal resolutio...

Ungated cine first-pass CMR for concurrent imaging of myocardial perfusion defects and wall motion abnormalities

Background Combined assessment of wall motion from cine imaging and perfusion defects from first-pass perfusion (FPP) imaging has been shown to have a high diagnostic performance for detection of acute ischemia. In this setting, a single ungated CMR scan capable of simultaneously capturing perfusion deficits and wall motion abnormality can be useful for rapid diagnosis of ongoing acute ischemia...

Rapid ungated myocardial perfusion cardiovascular magnetic resonance: preliminary diagnostic accuracy

BACKGROUND Myocardial perfusion cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is a well-established method for detection of ischemic heart disease. However, ECG gating problems can result in image degradation and non-diagnostic scans, particularly in patients with arrhythmias. METHODS A turboFLASH saturation recovery pulse sequence was used without any ECG triggering. One saturation pulse followed ...

Adjunctive role of cardiovascular magnetic resonance in the assessment of patients with inferior attenuation on myocardial perfusion SPECT.

PURPOSE Inferior attenuation is a common problem in the interpretation of myocardial perfusion SPECT. We explored whether cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) was a useful adjunct in differentiating between artifactual attenuation of the inferior wall and the presence of myocardial infarction and/or ischemia. METHODS We used CMR to assess resting wall motion, myocardial perfusion, and the ...
