Neutron Halos in Heavy Nuclei Relativistic Mean Field Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
Assuming a simple spherical relativistic mean eld model of the nucleus, we estimate the width of the antiproton{neutron annihilation ( n) and the width of antiproton{proton ( p) annihilation, in an antiprotonic atom system. This allows us to determine the halo factor f , which is then discussed in the context of experimental data obtained in measurements recently done on LEAR utility at CERN. Another quantity which characterizes the deviation of the average nuclear densities ratio from the corresponding ratio of the homogeneous densities is introduced too. It was shown that it is also a good indicator of the neutron halo. The results are compared to experimental data as well as to the data of the simple liquid droplet model of the nuclear densities. The single particle structure of the nuclear density tail is discusssed also. 21.60.-n, 21.10.Gv, 36.10.-k, 25.43.+t Typeset using REVTEX Supported by the Polish Committee of Scienti c Research (KBN) under contract no. 2P03B04909

Description of Drip-line Nuclei within Relativistic Mean Field plus Bcs Approach
Received (received date) Revised (revised date) RMF + BCS description of drip-line nuclei Recently it has been demonstrated, considering Ni and Ca isotopes as prototypes, that the relativistic mean-field plus BCS (RMF+BCS) approach wherein the single particle continuum corresponding to the RMF is replaced by a set of discrete positive energy states for the calculation of pairing energy provides...
متن کاملRelativistic mean-field description of nuclei at the drip-lines
We present a review of recent applications of the relativistic mean-field theory to the structure of nuclei close to the drip-lines. For systems with extreme isospin values, the relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov model provides a unified and self-consistent description of mean-field and pairing correlations. The model has been applied in studies of structure phenomena that include: formation of ne...

A review of recent applications of the relativistic mean-field theory to the structure of exotic nuclei is presented. Models based on the relativistic mean-field approximation provide a microscopically consistent description of the nuclear many-body problem, not only in nuclei along the valley of β-stability, but also in exotic nuclei with extreme isospin values and close to the particle drip l...
متن کاملRelativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory with finite range pairing forces in coordinate space: Neutron halo in light nuclei
The Relativistic Hartree Bogoliubov (RHB) model is applied in the self-consistent mean-field approximation to the description of the neutron halo in the mass region above the s-d shell. Pairing correlations and the coupling to particle continuum states are described by finite range twobody forces. Finite element methods are used in the coordinate space discretization of the coupled system of Di...
متن کاملRelativistic mean - field study of light nuclei near drip line
The relativistic mean field theory is applied to study some exotic properties of neutron rich nuclei as recently observed, namely, extension of the drip-line for F nuclei from 29 F to 31 F and the appearence of a new shell closure at neutron number N = 16. We find 31 F to be bound against one-neutron dripping but unbound only marginally for two neutron separation. The calculated functional depe...
