Rotating surface solitons.

چکیده
We introduce a novel type of surface waves that form at the edge of guiding structures consisting of several concentric rings. Such surface waves rotate steadily upon propagation and, in contrast with nonrotating waves, for high rotation frequencies they do not exhibit power thresholds for their existence. There exists an upper limit for the surface wave rotation frequency, which depends on the radius of the outer guiding ring and on its depth.

On Rotating Solitons in General Relativity
We review a number of results recently obtained in the area of constructing rotating solitons in a four dimensional asymptotically flat spacetime. Various models are examined, special attention being paid to the monopole-antimonopole and gauged skyrmion configurations, which have a nonvanishing total angular momentum. For all known examples of rotating solitons, the angular momentum is fixed by...
متن کاملSpatial optical solitons and soliton clusters carrying an angular momentum
We describe different types of ring-profile optical solitary wave and clusters of fundamental solitons propagating in isotropic nonlinear optical media. Such ringlike solitons carry a finite angular momentum and, depending on the value of the total momentum and structure, they either fragment quickly into several fundamental solitons that fly off the ring, or propagate stably for many diffracti...
متن کاملCollisions between (2+1)D rotating propeller solitons.
We study theoretically the collisions between (2+1)D rotating-dipole-type bimodal solitons and find that such interactions exhibit many interesting exchanges of angular momentum.
متن کاملTracking azimuthons in nonlocal nonlinear media
We study the formation of azimuthons, i.e., rotating spatial solitons, in media with nonlocal focusing nonlinearity. We show that whole families of these solutions can be found by considering internal modes of classical non-rotating stationary solutions, namely vortex solitons. This offers an exhaustive method to identify azimuthons in a given nonlocal medium. We demonstrate formation of azimut...
متن کاملStable rotating dipole solitons in nonlocal optical media.
We reveal that nonlocality can provide a simple physical mechanism for stabilization of multihump optical solitons and present what we believe to be the first example of stable rotating dipole solitons and soliton spiraling, which are known to be unstable in all types of realistic nonlinear media with a local response.
