چکیده

UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Microsatellite loci were isolated and characterized for Brazilian rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora), an endangered neotropical hardwood tree, to investigate population and conservation genetics of this highly valuable nontimber forest resource. • METHODS AND RESULTS We used an enriched genomic library method to isolate and characterize 11 nuclear microsatellite loci for A. rosaeodora, which exhibited an average of 9.6 and 8.7 alleles per locus in two populations from central Amazonia. Mean observed and expected heterozygosities over the 11 loci were 0.604 and 0.687, and 0.807 and 0.828, respectively, in the two populations. • CONCLUSIONS The polymorphic microsatellite loci developed for A. rosaeodora showed highly informative content and can be used as a powerful tool in genetic diversity and population structure, gene flow, and mating system studies for conservation purposes.

Isolation and Characterization of Microsatellite Markers from Endangered Species (Camelus bactrianus)

Iranian bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) is an endangered livestock breed with distribution in northwest of Iran. Microsatellites are a powerful marker for animal genetic and cell line identification and population genetic study. In this study, after producing more than 40 Camelus bactrianus fibroblast cell lines, microsatellites loci from the genome of Iranian Camelus bactrianus cell lines ...

The effect of highly variable topography on the spatial distribution of Aniba perutilis (Lauraceae) in the Colombian Andes.

Topography is a factor that can significantly affect the diversity and the distribution of trees species in tropical forests. Aniba perutilis, a timber species listed as vulnerable to extinction, is widely distributed in Andean forest fragments, especially in those with highly variable topography. Based on field surveys and logistic regression analyses, we studied the population structure and t...

REPELLENT EFFICACY OF SOME ESSENTIAL OILS AGAINST Aedes albopictus

Background: Mosquito species are the most important among the insects; for the reason that they transmit major diseases viz. malaria, dengue, chikungunya, zika, filariasis and various forms of encephalitis; imposing enormous menace to human as well as animals. These diseases cause huge amount of mortality and morbidity across the world. The principal strategy for fighting these diseases is the ...

Assessment of genetic diversity of an endangered tooth-carp, Aphanius farsicus (Teleostei: Cyprinodontiformes: Cyprinodontidae) using microsatellite markers

Genetic structure of an endemic tooth-carp fish, Aphanius farsicus from four different water bodies in the Maharlu Lake basin was investigated by applying five microsatellite markers. All of the five examined microsatellite loci showed polymor-phism pattern. A total of four alleles were detected at five microsatellite loci, with an average of 2.8 to 3.5 alleles per locus. Average values of obse...

Application of Random Amplified Microsatellite Polymorphism (RAMP) in Prunus Characterization and Mapping

Random amplified microsatellite polymorphism (RAMP) is a PCR-based marker which uses a combination of two classes of markers: Simple sequence repeat (SSR) and Random amplified DNA polymorphism (RAPD) markers. RAMP has been demonstrated to be a potentially valuable molecular marker for the study of genetic relationships in cultivated plant species. The objective of this study was to optimize the...
