چکیده

In this paper, the design of probabilistic observers for mass-balance based bioprocess models is investigated. It is assumed that the probability density function of every uncertain parameter, input and/or initial state is known a priori. Then, the probability density functions of the state variables are obtained, at any time, by considering the image of this initial probability density function by the flow of the dynamical system. In comparison to classical open-loop interval observers, the method provides information on the confidence level of the estimates rather than simple upper and lower bounds. The numerical implementation of the method is closely considered and an application to an industrial anaerobic digester is detailed.

Probabilistic Observers for a Class of Uncertain Biological Processes

In this paper, probabilistic observers are considered for a class of continuous biological processes described by mass-balance-based models. It is assumed that the probability density functions (PDFs) of the uncertain parameters and inputs of the model, as well as the PDFs of the missing initial conditions are known. Then, the PDFs of the unmeasured state variables are obtained, at any time, by...

On-line Biomass Estimation in a Batch Bio-technological Process: Bacillus Thuringiensis δ - Endotoxins Production

Biomass concentration in a biotechnological process is one of the states that characterize a bioprocess. Moreover, it is generally the main direct or indirectly desired product. It is well known that the biomass concentration is not normally measured online because this measurement is not possible or this is economically unprofitable. Therefore, for control purposes it is necessary to replace t...

Design and Implementation of Integrated System for Urban Land Use Change Modeling

According to urban environment complexity and dynamism and need to targeted land use change, incorporation GIS and PSS in the form of Spatial Planning Support Systems is inevitable. The aim of this study is to develop a spatial planning support system for urban land uses change (ULCMS), such that planners can enter expert knowledge in the form of desired criteria and weights and see their influ...

Nonlinear Control of Bioprocess Using Feedback Linearization, Backstepping, and Luenberger Observers

This paper addresses the analysis, design, and application of observer-based nonlinear controls by combining feedback linearization (FBL) and backstepping (BS) techniques with Luenberger observers. Complete development of observer-based controls is presented for a bioprocess. Controllers using input-output feedback linearization and backstepping techniques are designed first, assuming that all ...
