چکیده

High-level event-based models require the precise notion of events in the model. A formal way of defining high-level events in terms of low-level system state helps to define a faithful abstraction for an event-based model. In the context of run-time verification, we use the logic of events and conditions for event definition. We posit that a similar event definition formalism is useful in a more general context of event-based modeling.

Defining and Implementing Dynamic Semantics of Object Oriented High Level Petri Nets

This paper deals with the dynamic semantics of a new proposed formalism, called Object Oriented High Level Petri Nets (OOHLPN). In the first part of the paper, the formal definition of OOHLPN is briefly introduced, and an example of using OOHLPN is provided. The second part of the paper presents the dynamic semantics of OOHLPN. First, the semantics of Extended High Level Petri Nets with Objects...

Prescriptive Semantics for Big-Step Modelling Languages

A big-step modelling language (BSML) is a language in which a model can respond to an environmental input via a sequence of small steps, each of which may consist of the concurrent execution of a set of transitions. BSMLs are a popular class of modelling languages that are regularly reincarnated in different syntactic and semantic variations. In our previous work, we deconstructed the semantics...

An Event Structure Semantics for P/T Contextual Nets: Asymmetric Event Structures

We propose an event based semantics for contextual nets, i.e. an extension of Place/Transition Petri nets where transitions can also have context conditions, modelling resources that can be read without being consumed. The result is a generalization of Winskel’s work on safe nets: the event based semantics is given at categorical level via a chain of coreflections leading from the category WS-C...
