Emulica: an emulation-based benchmarking framework for production control experiments

چکیده
Evaluating a proposed control architecture nearly always requires experiments and applications. This paper propose an emulation-based benchmarking framework to design and run such experiments. The proposition is based on an architecture integrating the control system with the virtual controlled system (emulation model), and on generic constructs to build this emulation model. The main feature of this architecture is presented in this paper : the constructs used to build emulation model and their generic interface with the control system. Then, Emulica, an open-source implementation of the benchmarking environment is presented. Copyright c © 2010 IFAC

The performance of product-driven manufacturing control: An emulation-based benchmarking study
Product-driven control may enable manufacturing companies to meet business demands more quickly and effectively. But a key point in making this concept acceptable by industry is to provide benchmarking environments in order to compare and analyze their efficiency on emulated large-scale industry-led case studies with regard to current technologies and approaches. In this paper, a benchmarking p...
متن کاملA case study of Web server benchmarking using parallel WAN emulation
This paper describes the use of a parallel discrete-event network emulator called the Internet Protocol Traffic and Network Emulator (IP-TNE) for Web server benchmarking. The experiments in this paper demonstrate the feasibility of highperformance WAN emulation using parallel discrete-event simulation techniques on a single shared-memory multiprocessor. Our experiments with an Apache Web server...

Paths are the most important urban spaces and account for the city and its historic district’s main structure. In the past, the geometry of historic cities revolved around old bazar rows and passages. However, with the advent of motorized vehicles and subsequent chess roads in historical texture, organic geometry and hierarchy of paths net, integrity and structure of historic district were disr...
متن کاملReproducing Network Experiments in a Time-controlled Emulation Environment
Network emulation environments are a valuable research tool that offer the possibility of conducting complex network experiments and can be seen as an enabler of experimental reproducibility. Keen to quantify this approach, we reproduce experiments presented in QJump [1] in the timecontrolled network emulation framework, called SELENA [2]. We first describe in detail how we built the experiment...

The design and development of a complex system requires an adequate methodology and efficient instrumental support in order to early detect and correct anomalies in the functional and non-functional properties of the tested protocols. Among the various tools used to provide experimental support for such developments, network emulation relies on real-time production of impairments on real traffi...
