Least-squares migration using complex wavelets

چکیده

The use of a complex wavelet transform with similar properties to the DT-CWT in seismic processing was suggested in Fernandes (2001). A wavelet basis was used for linear inversion with application to well logging in Li et. al., (1996), using a fully decimated wavelet transform and the Haar wavelet. However, the transform used does not have the shift invariance and directional selectivity properties of the DT-CWT. Wavelets have also been used in other linearized inverse scattering problems (Miller and Willsky, 1996). Wavelet bases have a reputation for decorrelating or diagonalizing a range of non-stationary signals. This has lead to extensive use of wavelet bases in the area of information coding and compression. In LSM, diagonalization of the model space affords a more accurate but practical representation of prior information about the model parameters. This prior information is incorporated in the constraint term of the cost function that is minimized.

On Mesh Editing, Manifold Learning, and Diffusion Wavelets

We spell out a formal equivalence between the naive Laplacian editing and semi-supervised learning by bi-Laplacian Regularized Least Squares. This allows us to write the solution to Laplacian mesh editing in a closed form, based on which we introduce the Generalized Linear Editing (GLE). GLE has both naive Laplacian editing and gradient based editing as special cases. GLE allows using diffusion...

Applications of single-iteration Kirchhoff least-squares migration

It is well-known that standard migration is not a true inverse operation and is based on the adjoint of the forward modeling operator. Due to this approximation the resulting migrated image can often suffer from various artifacts and uneven illumination issues, especially in regions of complex geology. Least-squares depth migration approximates the inverse of the forward modeling and can be use...

Discussion of “ Regularization of Wavelets Approximations ”

Professors Antoniadis and Fan are to be congratulated for their valuable work on the penalized least-squares method for wavelet regression. In this very interesting article the authors present a general characterization of the penalized least-squares estimators for a class of additive smooth penalty functions. A main contribution of this paper is the unified and systematic derivation of the ora...

Incompressible laminar flow computations by an upwind least-squares meshless method

In this paper, the laminar incompressible flow equations are solved by an upwind least-squares meshless method. Due to the difficulties in generating quality meshes, particularly in complex geometries, a meshless method is increasingly used as a new numerical tool. The meshless methods only use clouds of nodes to influence the domain of every node. Thus, they do not require the nodes to be conn...
