چکیده
A new species of caridean shrimp of the family Rhynchocinetidae, Rhynchocinetes rathbunae Okuno, is described and illustrated based on six males, an ovigerous female, a second female, and a juvenile from the Hawaiian Islands. It is closely related to R. brucei Okuno from the tropical western Pacific and R. rugulosus Stimpson from southern Australian waters, but is readily distinguishable from the two latter species by absence of a podobranch on the second maxilliped, the longer rostrum, forms of the stylocerite and endopod of male first pleopod, meral dentition of the ambulatory pereiopods, and the color in life. IN THE ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION of Rhynchocinetes brucei Okuno, 1994, it was suggested that another Hawaiian rhynchocinetid shrimp in the collections of the B. P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawai'i, might be an undescribed species. Through the courtesy of L. G. Eldredge, I examined the specimens in question during a short visit to the museum. In addition, John Hoover, an underwater photographer in Honolulu, kindly sent me some specimens of the shrimp captured at Waimea Bay and Hanauma Bay, O'ahu. This shrimp resembles R. brucei and R. rugulosus Stimpson, 1860, but differs in morphology and the life color, and I describe it here as new to science. Periclimenaeus species (Crustacea: Decapoda: Pontoniinae) from Hawaii.
Two specimens of an undescribed species of pontoniine shrimp of the genus Periclimenaeus Borradaile 1915 from Maui Island, Hawaiian Islands, are described and illustrated, raising to three the number of species known from the Hawaiian Islands. The new species is remarkable for the greatly reduced molar process and sharp lateral cutting edge on the major second pereiopod dactyl and most closely ...

A new pontoniine shrimp species, Cuapetes yapiensis, from mangroves at Quamun, on Yap Island, Caroline Islands, is described and illustrated. Cuapetes yapiensis most closely resembles C. darwiniensis Bruce. Six species of Cuapetes are now known from the Caroline Islands.
متن کاملTyptonoides nieli gen. nov., sp. nov., a new pontoniine shrimp (Crustacea: Decapoda: Palaemonidae) from the Chesterfield Islands
A small pontoniine shrimp, Typtonoides nieli, from the Chesterfield Islands, New Caledonia, is described and illustrated. Its systematic position is obscure as only a single second pereiopod is preserved. It is possibly related to the spongeassociated genus Typton Costa as the scaphocerite is similarly strongly reduced, but its host remains unknown.

Sexual dimorphism in body size and weaponry was examined in two Cinetorhynchus shrimp species in order to formulate hypotheses on their sexual and mating systems. Collections of Cinetorhynchus sp. A and Cinetorhynchus sp. B were made in March, 2011 on Coconut Island, Hawaii, by hand dipnetting and minnow traps in coral rubble bottom in shallow water. Although there is overlap in male and female...
متن کاملPericlimenes macrorhynchia sp. nov., a new hydrozoan-associated pontoniine shrimp (Crustacea, Decapoda, Palaemonidae) from North East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
A new species of pontoniine shrimp belonging to the 'Periclimenes obscurus species group' is described from the Berau Islands, North East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Specimens were obtained from aglaopheniid hydrozoans of the genus Macrorhynchia. The new species is here described and figured. Its affinities with related species are discussed and a DNA-barcode is provided.
