A Combined Approach for Building Detection in Satellite Imageries using Active Contours
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a combined approach for detecting building rooftops in satellite images. The proposed method is an active contour based approach combined with local texture and edge information for curve evolution. This method allows extraction of multiple buildings simultaneously. Verification for accepting or rejecting rooftop hypotheses is performed based on the existence of shadow evidence along the sun direction in the immediate surrounding neighborhood of each hypothesis. Experimental results for QuickBird satellite imageries confirm the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method in identifying building structures with complicated rooftops.

Applicability Evaluation of Object Detection Method to Satellite and Aerial Imageries
Since satellite and aerial imageries are recently widely spread and frequently observed, combination of them are expected to complement spatial and temporal resolution each other. One of the prospective applications is traffic monitoring, where objects of interest, or vehicles, need to be recognized automatically. Techniques that employ object detection before object recognition can save a comp...

Persian juniper and Pistachio are grown in low density in the rangelands of North-East of Iran. These rangelands are populated by evergreen conifers, which are widespread and present at low-density and sparse shrub of pistachio in Iran, that are not only environmentally but also genetically essential as seed sources for pistachio improvement in orchards. Rangelands offer excellent opportunities...
متن کاملShadow Detection from Very High Resoluton Satellite Image Using Grabcut Segmentation and Ratio-band Algorithms
Very-High-Resolution (VHR) satellite imagery is a powerful source of data for detecting and extracting information about urban constructions. Shadow in the VHR satellite imageries provides vital information on urban construction forms, illumination direction, and the spatial distribution of the objects that can help to further understanding of the built environment. However, to extract shadows,...
متن کاملDeepVGI: Deep Learning with Volunteered Geographic Information
Recently, deep learning has been widely studied to recognize ground objects with satellite imageries. However, finding ground truths especially for developing and rural areas is quite hard and manually labeling a large set of training data is costly. In this work, we propose an ongoing research named DeepVGI which aims at deeply learning from satellite imageries with the supervision of Voluntee...
متن کامل3D Polygonal Building Model Estimation from Single Satellite Images
This paper introduces a novel system for automatic detection and height estimation of buildings with polygonal shape roofs in singular satellite images. The system is capable of detecting multiple flat polygonal buildings with no angular constraints or shape priors. The proposed approach employs image primitives such as lines, and line intersections, and examines their relationships with each o...
