Control-flow semantics of use cases in UML
نویسندگان
چکیده
1 The control-flow for five kinds of use cases is analysed: for common use cases, variant use cases, component use cases, specialised use cases and for ordered use cases. The control-flow semantics of use cases – and of the uses-relation, the extends-relation and the precedesrelation between use cases is described in terms of flowgraphs. Sequence diagrams of use cases are refined to capture the control-flow adequately. Guidelines are given for use case descriptions to attain a well-defined flow of control.

Petri Nets Based Formalization of Textual Use Cases
A Use Case is a specification of interactions involving a system and external actors of that system. The intuitive, user centered nature of textual use cases is one of the reasons for the success of the use case approach. A certain level of formalization is however needed to automate use case based system development, including tasks such as model synthesis, verification and validation. In this...
متن کاملSemantics and Verification of Data Flow in UML 2.0 Activities
One of the major changes in going from UML 1.5 to UML 2.0 is the reengineering of Activity Diagrams. This paper examines Activities as described in the current version of the UML 2.0 standard by defining a denotational semantics. It covers basic control flow and data flow, but excludes hierarchy, expansion nodes, and exception handling (see [19,20,21,22] for these issues). The paper shows, wher...
متن کاملSemantics of UML 2.0 Activities with Data-Flow
One of the major improvements of UML 2.0 over UML 1.5 is the reengineering of Activity Diagrams. It is claimed in the standard that they now have a Petri-net like meaning. In this paper, this claim is examined by defining a denotational semantics for Activities based on Colored Petri-nets. The definition closely following the UML 2.0 standard. It covers flat control-flow, and dataflow, but excl...
متن کاملSemantics of UML 2.0 Activities
The recent major revision of the UML [22] has introduced significant changes and additions. In particular, the metamodel portion underlying Activity Diagrams has been completely reengineered, with Activity being the central concept, the successor of ActivityGraph in UML 1.5. In this paper, a denotational semantics for Activities is defined as a mapping from Activities into Procedural Petri nets...
متن کاملFormalization of fUML: An Application to Process Verification
Much research work has been done on formalizing UML Activity Diagrams for process modeling to verify different kinds of soundness properties (deadlock, unreachable activities and so on) on process models. However, these works focus mainly on the control-flow aspects of the process and have done some assumptions on the precise execution semantics defined in natural language in the UML specificat...
