Jitter Control in Time-Triggered Systems

چکیده
This paper addresses the jitter control issue in time-triggered real-time systems where tasks are activated according to time. Our model is based on the temporal distance constrained task model (DCTS). However, many real-time systems have tasks that do not t the simple assumptions of the DCTS model because tasks may occasionally access shared resources, and certain tasks may arrive irregularly. In this paper, We address the issues that cause jitters in DCTS. We rst review the algorithm developed for DCTS and present an extension for an optimal algorithm. Three jitter issues are then discussed: sharing resources between tasks, handling tasks that have xed and unchangeable periods, and handling tasks that arrive aperiodically. We present solutions that can prevent jitters, as well as other solutions that may result in minor jitters.

Sporadic Control of Scalar Systems with Delay, Jitter and Measurement Noise
Abstract: Event-triggered control is a promising alternative to time-triggered control, especially for severely resource-constrained networked embedded systems. Previous work has shown that event-triggered control can reduce both the output variance and the average control rate in scalar linear stochastic systems compared to time-triggered control. It has also been shown how a minimum inter-con...
متن کاملModeling of Jitter Characteristics for the Second Order Bang-Bang CDR
Bang-Bang clock and data recovery (BBCDR) circuits are hard nonlinear systems due to the nonlinearity introduced by the binary phase detector (BPD). The specification of the CDR frequency response is determined by jitter tolerance and jitter transfer. In this paper, jitter transfer and jitter tolerance of the second-order BBCDR are characterized by formulating the time domain waveforms. As a re...
متن کاملConcept of time-triggered image acquisition for embedded control applications
In this work-in-progress report we present our current work on a time-triggered concept for image acquisition and processing for embedded control applications. We discuss some requirements for distributed embedded real-time control systems and its impact on visual sensor systems. We present a concept how we can achieve fixed latency and minimal jitter by handing the scope of control from the se...
متن کاملComparison of Event-Triggered and Time-Triggered Concepts with Regard to Distributed Control Systems
This paper compares event-triggered and time-triggered concepts from the control theory point of view. For that purpose, the requirements of distributed control systems are summarized and advantages and disadvantages of both concepts are elaborated by hand of different criteria. These are, for instance, the ability to react to asynchronous events, the system design and scheduling, the synchroni...
متن کاملModeling Time-Triggered Ethernet in SystemC/TLM for Virtual Prototyping of Cyber-Physical Systems
When designing cyber-physical systems (CPS), virtual prototyping can discover potential design flaws at early design stages to reduce the difficulties at the integration stage. CPS are typically complex real-time distributed systems which require networks with deterministic end-to-end latency and bounded jitter. Time-triggered Ethernet (TTEthernet) integrates time-triggered and event-triggered ...
