Cfd Simulation of Inter-flat Air Cross-contamination—a Possible Transmission Path of Infectious Diseases
نویسندگان
چکیده
The objective of this study is to investigate the possible transmission mechanism of inter-flat air cross-contamination under the condition of singlesided natural ventilation. In high-rise residential building with flush windows on the same side, the air pollutants can diffuse from lower flat to adjacent upper flat in the vertical direction related to the interflat air flow through open windows caused by the temperature difference between the indoor air and the air outside of the windows. Based on the validation of CFD models with experimental data given by Heiselberg, the renormalization group (RNG) based k ε − model, together with Carbon dioxide (CO2) used as a tracer, is chosen to reveal this air crosscontamination. Different effects of contamination spread into upper room were evaluated through kinds of cases performed in various conditions. The numerical results demonstrate this possible transmission path.

Cfd Simulation of Interflat Air Flow for the Study of the Spread of Aerosol Transmitted Infectious Diseases
In the world-wide scale outbreak of SARS in 2003, cluster of cases occurred in large building blocks, especially in Hong Kong. In this paper, we will examine one of the most likely virus-spread mechanisms, which is related to the inter-flat or inter-zonal air flow through open windows caused by buoyancy effects. Both tracer gas technique and CFD(computational fluid dynamics) techniques are empl...
متن کاملNatural Ventilation: Analysis of Indoor Airflow in an Assumed Cubic Building with Opposite Openings by CFD Investigations
The natural ventilation is an easy way to exchange the indoor polluted warm air with outdoor fresh air. The wind power injects outdoor fresh air into the building. A good indoor air current and subsequently a proper exhaust depend on the openings’ conditions and their situations. A serious architectural question is under what conditions of the openings the wind-cross ventilation can be effectiv...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Moderating Role of Perceived Vulnerability to Infectious Diseases Regarding the Relationship between Disgust and Fear of Contamination
Background and Objective: Several studies revealed that disgust as an emotional response underlies the contamination fears in Contamination Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Other studies supported the role of cognitions related to contagion and disease in contamination OCD. The present study aimed to integrate these two lines of evidence. To this end, regarding the concept of the behavioral...
