چکیده
We present a new general relativistic hydrodynamics code specifically designed to study magneto-rotational, relativistic, stellar core collapse. The code is an extension of an existing (and thoroughly tested) hydrodynamics code, which has been applied in the recent past to study relativistic rotational core collapse. It is based on the conformally-flat approximation of Einstein's field equations and conservative formulations for the magneto-hydrodynamics equations. As a first step towards magneto-rotational core collapse simulations the code assumes a passive (test) magnetic field. The paper is focused on the description of the technical details of the numerical implementation, with emphasis on the magnetic field module. A number of code tests are presented and discussed, along with a representative core collapse simulation.

If there exists the quark star of maximum mass ∼ 0.7M⊙ as suggested by recent Chandra observations, we show that the general relativistic collapse of a neutron star of mass greater than the maximum mass of the neutron star with angular momentum parameter q ≡ cJ/GM > 1 may lead to such a strange star. Here J and M are the angular momentum and the gravitational mass of the neutron star, respectiv...

The nature of the ultraluminous X–ray sources (ULX) is still to be understood. Several hypotheses have been suggested to explain the high X–ray luminosity: stellar mass black holes with emission collimated by relativistic effects or anisotropies in the accretion disk, intermediate mass black holes, young supernovae remnants, background active galactic nuclei. To discriminate among the above hyp...

Core collapse of massive stars and binary neutron stars or black hole-neutron star binary mergers are likely progenitors of long and short duration gamma-ray bursts respectively. Neu-tronized material in the former and neutron star material in the latter are ejected by the central engine implying a neutron-rich jet outflow. A free neutron, however, beta decays to a proton, an electron (beta) an...
