On least-squares regression with censored data

چکیده
The semiparametric accelerated failure time model relates the logarithm of the failure time linearly to the covariates while leaving the error distribution unspecified. The present paper describes simple and reliable inference procedures based on the least-squares principle for this model with right-censored data. The proposed estimator of the vectorvalued regression parameter is an iterative solution to the Buckley–James estimating equation with a preliminary consistent estimator as the starting value. The estimator is shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal. A novel resampling procedure is developed for the estimation of the limiting covariance matrix. Extensions to marginal models for multivariate failure time data are considered. The performance of the new inference procedures is assessed through simulation studies. Illustrations with medical studies are provided.

LSS: An S-Plus/R program for the accelerated failure time model to right censored data based on least-squares principle
Due to lack of proper inference procedure and software, the ordinary linear regression model is seldom used in practice for the analysis of right censored data. This paper presents an S-Plus/R program that implements a recently developed inference procedure [Z. Jin, D.Y. Lin, Z. Ying, On least-squares regression with censored data, Biometrika 93 (2006) 147-161] for the accelerated failure time ...
متن کاملSingle-index Regression models with right-censored responses
In this article, we propose some new generalizations of M-estimation procedures for single-index regression models in presence of randomly right-censored responses. We derive consistency and asymptotic normality of our estimates. The results are proved in order to be adapted to a wide range of techniques used in a censored regression framework (e.g. synthetic data or weighted least squares). As...

Recently, there has been an occurrence of new kinds of highthroughput measurement techniques enabling biological research to focus on fundamental building blocks of living organisms such as genes, proteins, and lipids. In sync with the new type of data that is referred to as the omics data, modern data analysis techniques have emerged. Much of such research is focusing on finding biomarkers for...
متن کاملA Study of Estimation in a Normal Heteroscedastic Regression Model with Type I Censored Data
Much interest has focused on the regression problem with censored data, which has usefulness In biological, pharmaceutical, industrial, survival, and failure time experiments. In these last three applications, the usual assumption is that data after a suitable transformation follow a normal, extreme value, or other distribution. Although usual methods of analysis have traditionally assumed cons...
متن کاملOn the Possibilistic Approach to Linear Regression with Rounded or Interval-Censored Data
Consider a linear regression model where some or all of the observations of the dependent variable have been either rounded or interval-censored and only the resulting interval is available. Given a linear estimator β̂ of the vector of regression parameters, we consider its possibilistic generalization for the model with rounded/censored data, which is called the OLS-set in the special case β̂ = ...
متن کاملCensored Variables and Censored Regression
A censored variable has a large fraction of observations at the minimum or maximum. Because the censored variable is not observed over its entire range ordinary estimates of the mean and variance of a censored variable will be biased. Ordinary least squares (OLS) estimates of its regression on a set of explanatory variables will also be biased. These estimates are not consistent, i.e., the bias...
