A Frailty Model Approach for Regression Analysis of Bivariate Interval-censored Survival Data

چکیده
Owing to the fact that general semiparametric inference procedures are still underdeveloped for multivariate interval-censored event time data, we propose semiparametric maximum likelihood estimation for the gamma-frailty Cox model under mixed-case interval censoring. We establish the consistency of the semiparametric maximum likelihood estimator (SPMLE) for the model parameters, including the regression coefficients and the cumulative hazard functions in the Cox model, and the variance of the gamma frailty. The SPMLEs of the cumulative hazard functions are shown to have a n-rate of convergence, while those of the regression coefficients and the frailty variance have a n-rate of convergence; here n denotes the number of study units. The asymptotic normality of the regression coefficients and the frailty variance is also established, with the asymptotic variance given by the inverse of the efficient Fisher information matrix. A profilelikelihood approach is proposed for estimating the asymptotic variance. Based on the self-consistency equations and the contraction principle, we propose a stable and efficient computation algorithm. Simulation results reveal that the large sample theories work quite well in finite samples. We analyze a dataset from an AIDS clinical trial by the proposed methods to assess the effects of the baseline CD4 cell counts on the times to CMV shedding in blood and urine.

Semiparametric Regression Analysis of Bivariate Interval-Censored Data
Survival analysis is a long-lasting and popular research area and has numerous applications in all fields such as social science, engineering, economics, industry, and public health. Interval-censored data are a special type of survival data, in which the survival time of interest is never exactly observed but is known to fall within some observed interval. Interval-censored data arise commonly...
متن کاملA multiple imputation approach for clustered interval-censored survival data.
Multivariate interval-censored failure time data arise commonly in many studies of epidemiology and biomedicine. Analysis of these type of data is more challenging than the right-censored data. We propose a simple multiple imputation strategy to recover the order of occurrences based on the interval-censored event times using a conditional predictive distribution function derived from a paramet...
متن کاملSpatial Modeling of Censored Survival Data
An important issue in survival data analysis is the identification of risk factors. Some of these factors are identifiable and explainable by presence of some covariates in the Cox proportional hazard model, while the others are unidentifiable or even immeasurable. Spatial correlation of censored survival data is one of these sources that are rarely considered in the literatures. In this paper,...
متن کاملA bivariate Gompertz regression model with shared gamma frailty for censored data
The Gompertz distribution has many applications, particularly in medical and actuarial studies. However, there has been little recent work on the Gompertz in comparison with its early investigation. The problem of analyzing and estimating parameters of bivariate Gompertz distribution with shared frailty is of interest and the focus of this paper. We propose maximum likelihood estimation procedu...
متن کاملUsing of frailty model baseline proportional hazard rate in Real Data Analysis
Many populations encountered in survival analysis are often not homogeneous. Individuals are flexible in their susceptibility to causes of death, response to treatment and influence of various risk factors. Ignoring this heterogeneity can result in misleading conclusions. To deal with these problems, the proportional hazard frailty model was introduced. In this paper, the frailty model is ex...
