of the abdomen about an inch below the umbilicus. Each loop was one inch long. On being questioned, the woman gave the following history:? That the husband had great suspicions against her chastity, and, whenever he left home, he used to put her in chains in the room, which was also locked. On the slightest pretext he used to beat her; that the loops were inserted by her husband, who had meant to pass an iron-wire through these loops and fix the upper end of the wire to the loop in the abdominal wall, where he meant to put on a lock, the object being to close up the vulva. I may state here that the husband has absconded from Jamnagar, which fact lends colour to the statement of the woman.
