چکیده

Aeromonas hydrophila was isolated from 12 (5.3%) of 225 patients with acute gastroenteritis. The present study was determined the virulence of A. hydrophila obtained from patients with diarrhea, among 12 A. hydrophila isolates obtained from stool, 83.3%, 91.6%, 83.3%, 75%, 75%, 50% produced β-haemolysin, protease ,phospholipase, DNase, slime(viscous glycoconjugate material), and have the adhesion, respectively. The isolates were tested for their susceptibility to 21 antibiotics, high level of resistance was observed to Penicillin, Carbenicillin, Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid, followed by high level of susceptibility towards Azithromycin 100%, Ofloxacin 100%, Meropenem 100%, Cefepime 91%, Streptomycin 91%, Aztreonam 91%. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of A.hydrophila isolates to certain antibiotics, azithromycin, ofloxacin, chloramphenicol and cefepime, was done by agar dilution method, azithromycin and ofloxacin have the lowest MICs 1-32μg/ml, 1-128μg/ml, respectively. Exposure of A. hydrophila to sub-MICs of such antibiotics azithromycin , ofloxacin, chloramphenicol and cefepime, reduced the percentage of haemolysin, protease ,phospholipase ,DNase and slime production.

Low Prevalence of Aeromonas hydrophilain Infectious Diarrhea Samples of Pediatric Patients in Arak, Iran

Background: Aeromonashydrophila (A. hydrophila) is an aquatic bacterium that can cause a spectrum of infectious diseases, including both gastrointestinal and extraintestinal infections. Due to the high rate of diarrheal infections in pediatric patients in central Iran, this study was designed to determine the frequency of A. hydrophila in diarrhea samples from children in this region. Method...

The prevalence of Aeromonas hydrophila-induced diarrhoea in the pig, buffalo and human in Pune area, India

Aeromonas hydrophila is pathogen for several vertebrates. The bacteriological, clinical and epidemiological evidences for the role of A. hydrophila have been described in human infections. The presence of this pathogen in contaminated water is well-established and ingestion of such water may cause infection. There are many reports of acute diarrhoea associated with A. hydrophila transmitted by ...

Characterization and Distribution of Virulence Factors in Aeromonas hydrophila Strains Isolated from Fecal Samples of Diarrheal and Asymptomatic Healthy Persons, in Ilam, Iran

Aeromonas hydrophila secretes several extracellular proteins including enterotoxin, hemolysin and aerolysin that are associated with the bacterial virulence. Previous studies have shown that two hemolytic toxins, hemolysin A and aerolysin A contribute to the virulence of Aeromonas hydrophila. In the current study, a total of 50 strains of Aeromonas hydrophila, including 28 (56%) strains isolate...

Enteropathogenicity of Aeromonas hydrophila and Plesiomonas shigelloides: prevalence among individuals with and without diarrhea in Thailand.

To evaluate the enteropathogenicity of Aeromonas hydrophila and Plesiomonas shigelloides, the rate of isolation of these organisms was compared among individuals with and without diarrhea in Thailand. In two groups of American travelers, A. hydrophila, but not P. shigelloides, was associated with episodes of travelers diarrhea more often than when individuals did not have diarrhea (P less than ...

Comparison of putative virulence factors in Aeromonas hydrophila strains isolated from the marine environment and human diarrheal cases in southern Italy.

Aeromonas hydrophila strains isolated from the same geographical region (southern Italy) but from different sources (sea sediments and human diarrhea cases) were characterized for the production of potential virulence determinants, such as production of cytotoxins, cytotonic toxins, hemolysin, and dermonecrotic factors and their capacity to adhere to human intestinal 407 cells in vitro. The res...
