چکیده

Sir, Klinefelter’s syndrome, originally described by Klinefelter et al. in 1942 (1), is the most frequent major abnormality of sexual differentiation in men with two or more X-chromosomes. Its prevalence has been estimated at one male birth in 500. The prevalence of leg ulcers as a result of a venous insufficiency in patients with Klinefelter’s syndrome is about 13% (2). The pathogenesis of this venous insufficiency is still unknown.

Association between venous leg ulcers and sex chromosome anomalies in men.

We report here two cases of men, aged 46 and 23 years, with refractory chronic venous leg ulcers in association with sex chromosome aberrations: one with a 47,XXY/48,XXXY karyotype (Klinefelter syndrome) and the other with a 47,XYY karyotype (Jacob syndrome). In both patients, the occurrence of leg ulcers was the reason for seeking medical care; their medical history was other-wise unremarkable...

Reduced tissue type plasminogen activator activity of the gastroduodenal mucosa in peptic ulcer disease.

The gastroduodenal mucosa has a rich blood supply. An active fibrinolytic system is presumably required to maintain vascular patency, and impairment may result in reduced blood flow, focal tissue necrosis, and peptic ulcerogenesis. Tissue type and urokinase type plasminogen activator activity (expressed as mIU/mg protein) and plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1 antigen were assayed in homoge...

Serum Level of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor Type-1 in Addicted Patients ‎with Coronary Artery Disease

Background: Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) is a glycoprotein with inhibitory effects on the formation of plasmin from plasminogen by plasminogen activator. Thus, it prevents clot lysis in vessel walls. Several evidences prove the relationship between coronary artery disease and response to fibrinolytic therapy in patients with myocardial infarction with PAI-1 level. Opium addiction i...
