TTP/A: A Low-Cost, Highly Efficient, Time-Triggered Fieldbus Architecture
نویسندگان
چکیده
TTP/A is the fieldbus protocol of the Time Triggered Architecture (TTA). It provides periodic transmission of realtime data and allows for on-line configuration, diagnostics, and maintenance by use of an interface file system. It is well integrated with the TTP/C protocol and is designed to meet the requirements of a low-cost sensor/actuator bus. TTP/A is a master-slave protocol where the master establishes a common time base within a TTP/A cluster. Since the master establishes the time base prior to the communication of slaves, the protocol can be implemented with low-cost on-chip RC oscillators for the slaves. Using a standard UART-based serial interface as physical layer, the slave TTP/A protocol can be implemented in very low cost Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware.

Time-Triggered Communication with UARTs
The simple UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitter) encoding is used in two novel fieldbus protocols for real-time systems, the Local Interconnect Network (LIN) and the Time-Triggered Protocol for SAE class A applications (TTP/A). These protocols use a time-triggered communication schedule to achieve a predictable timing behavior. The employment of standard components like a stand...
متن کاملNew Node Integration for Master-Slave Fieldbus Networks
The configuration and maintenance of fieldbus networks is a difficult and error-prone task. Plug-andPlay comes to the rescue by automating node identification, integration and configuration tasks that were originally done manually. This paper proposes a Plugand-Play functionality for the time-triggered fieldbus protocol TTP/A that works during operation concurrently to real-time communication o...
متن کاملA Standardized Smart Transducer Interface
In December 2000 the Object Management Group (OMG) called for a proposal of a smart transducer interface. In response a new standard has been proposed that comprises a time-triggered transport service within the distributed smart transducer subsystem and a well-defined interface to a CORBA environment. This smart transducer standard has been adopted by the OMG in January 2002. The smart transdu...
متن کاملMonitoring and Configuration in a Smart Transducer Network
There is a strong necessity for monitoring, runtime configuration, and maintenance of smart transducer networks. This paper describes tools for establishing these tasks in distributed real-time systems. A time-triggered architecture is presented, that accomplishes deterministic, reproducible monitoring of a smart transducer network without probe effects. This architecture allows access to the r...
متن کاملManaging fieldbus systems
Digital fieldbus systems are increasingly becoming popular. The configuration and management of such a system, mainly carried out manually, is an expensive and errorprone task. Many existing fieldbusses provide means like "plug-and-play" that assist the user in these tasks. However the existing solutions cover merely parts of the possible configuration and maintenance tasks. In this paper we wi...
