Thermalization in Yang-Mills Classical Mechanics

چکیده

We use quartic oscillators system with two degrees of freedom to model Yang-Mills classical mechanics. This simple model explains qualitatively many features reported in lattice calculation of (3 + 1) dimensional classical Yang-Mills system. The largest Lyapunov exponent (λ) and the thermalization time were numerically evaluated. We also show, in our model, that λ scales with 4th root of energy density. Here thermalization is due to relaxation phenomena associated with the color degrees of freedom. From the physical picture of thermalization, we speculate that the system with coherent fields (flux tubes) formed in relativistic heavy ion collisions can relax by chaos and the estimated thermalization time can be smaller than 1 fm/c. Asymptotically Free Yang-Mills Classical Mechanics with Self-Linked Orbits

We construct a classical mechanics Hamiltonian which exhibits spontaneous symmetry breaking akin the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism, dimensional transmutation, and asymptotically free self-similarity congruent with the beta-function of four dimensional Yang-Mills theory. Its classical equations of motion support stable periodic orbits and in a three dimensional projection these orbits are self-link...

Thermalization and Lyapunov Exponents in the Yang-Mills-Higgs Theory

We investigate thermalization processes occurring at different time scales in the Yang-Mills-Higgs system at high temperatures. We determine the largest Lyapunov exponent associated with the gauge fields and verify its relation to the perturbatively calculated damping rate of a static gauge boson. 12.38.Mh, 11.15.Kc Typeset using REVTEX 1

We review recent results from studies of the dynamics of classical YangMills fields on a lattice. We discuss the numerical techniques employed in solving the classical lattice Yang-Mills equations in real time, and present results exhibiting the universal chaotic behavior of nonabelian gauge theories. The complete spectrum of Lyapunov exponents is determined for the gauge group SU(2). We survey...

Thermalization algorithms for classical gauge theories

I propose a method, based on a set of Langevin equations, for bringing classical gauge theories to thermal equilibrium while respecting the set of Gauss’ constraints exactly. The algorithm is described in detail for the SU(2) gauge theory with or without the Higgs doublet. As an example of application, canonical average of the maximal Lyapunov exponent is computed for the SU(2) Yang-Mills theor...
