Leveraging MPLS Fast ReRoute Paths for Distributed Green Traffic Engineering
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper introduces a new scheme called Green MPLS Fast ReRoute (GMFRR) for enabling energy aware traffic engineering. The scheme intelligently exploits backup label switched paths, originally used for failure protection, in order to achieve energy saving during the normal failure-free operation period. GMFRR works in an online and distributed fashion where each router periodically monitors its local traffic condition and cooperatively determines how to efficiently reroute traffic onto the backup paths in order to exploit opportunities for power saving through link sleeping in the primary paths. According to our performance evaluations based on the academic network GÉANT and its traffic matrices, GMFRR is able to achieve significant power saving gains, which are within 15% of the theoretical upper bound.

Efficient Distributed Solution for MPLS Fast Reroute
As service providers move more applications to their IP/MPLS (Multiple Protocol Label Switching) networks, rapid restoration upon failure becomes more and more crucial. Recently MPLS fast reroute has attracted lots of attention as it was designed to meet the needs of real-time applications, such as voice over IP. MPLS fast reroute achieves rapid restoration by computing and signaling backup lab...

PTIT, Ho Chi Minh 1 This paper presents the ability to quickly reroute traffic around error or congestion in a Label Switched Path (LSP) of MPLS networks. When label switched path established unusable (e.g. due to a physical link or switch failure) data may need to be re-routed over an alternative path. This paper include 5 parts. Part 1 introduce the essential of alternative path in MPLS when ...

For a perfect network it must have ability to keep all the tasks and services running even when a link or node fails. This feature of any network is usually known as network resilience. The basic working of resilient network is that it can recover from a failure by automatically diverting the traffic from the failed portion of the network to another active part of the network. This process must...

This document specifies Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Traffic Engineering Soft Preemption, a suite of protocol modifications extending the concept of preemption with the goal of reducing or eliminating traffic disruption of preempted Traffic Engineering Label Switched Paths (TE LSPs). Initially, MPLS RSVP-TE was defined with support for only immediate TE LSP displacement upon preemption....
