چکیده
Background: Hydatid cyst of the liver may be complicated by spontaneous rupture into the biliary tract with biliary obstruction. Methods: ERCP of hydatid cyst liver with biliary communication was done and bile duct cleared and cyst was assessed for resolution. Results: A 56 year lady who had jaundice, right upper abdomen pain and cholangitis was diagnosed to have hydatid cyst of liver with biliary obstruction and membranes in common bile duct. ERCP was performed and bile duct membranes were extracted and duct was cleared. Her jaundice, fever and abdominal pain resolved and the repeat CT scan abdomen also showed resolution of the liver hydatid cyst. Conclusion: Hepatic hydatid cyst with biliary communication may drain off and resolve completely after ERCP clearance of bile duct. *Corresponding author: Dr. Sanjay Kumar Somani, MD, DM, Consultant Gastroenterologist 76, Chandganj Garden, Aliganj, Lucknow-226024, India, Tel: 91 979215 5555; Fax: 91 522 6782110; E-mail: [email protected] Received February 05, 2012; Accepted June 25, 2012; Published June 27, 2012 Citation: Somani SK, Srivastava AP (2012) Resolution of hepatic hydatid cyst with biliary communication with ERCP. متن کاملRole of Different Treatment Modalities in Cavity Volume during the Treatment of Cystic Ecchinococcosis.
OBJECTIVE Surgery and percutaneous aspiration-injection-re-aspiration (PAIR) are widely accepted treatment modalities for hepatic hydatid cysts. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreaticography (ERCP) acts as a minimally invasive rescue method for the biliary complications of both the hydatid cysts and treatment modalities. The aim of this study was to identify the role of different treatment m...
متن کاملCommon bile duct obstruction caused by the hydatid daughter cysts.
Echinococcosis is a human parasitary disease. In 2002, 29 new cases of liver echinococcosis were recorded in Croatia. Liver is the most common site of hydatid cysts. Nine patients with echinoccocal liver disease were operated in our department in 2002. Here we present a case where a patient with verified hydatid cyst in the left liver lobe developed high fever, jaundice, nausea, vomiting and pa...

متن کاملComplicated hepatic hydatid cyst with simultaneous biliary tree and intraperitoneal rupture: can we treat it in a minimally invasive way?
We report a case of complicated liver hydatid cyst with biliary system communication, cholangitis, and having at the same time simultaneous free intraperitoneal rupture. This very rare case was treated successfully by a minimally invasive method, namely ERCP, large sphincterotomy and bile duct decompression by cysts and membranes, percutaneous radiologic subdiaphragmatic drainage and prolonged ...
