Finite field matrix channels for network coding

چکیده
In 2010, Silva, Kschischang and Kötter studied certain classes of finite field matrix channels in order to model random linear network coding where exactly t random errors are introduced. In this paper we introduce a generalisation of these matrix channels where the number of errors is not required to be constant. We show that a capacity-achieving input distribution can always be taken to have a very restricted form (the distribution should be uniform given the rank of the input matrix). This result complements, and is inspired by, a paper of Nobrega, Silva and Uchoa-Filho, that establishes a similar result for a class of matrix channels that model network coding with link erasures. Our result shows that the capacity of our channels can be expressed as a maximisation over probability distributions on the set of possible ranks of input matrices: a set of linear rather than exponential size.

Modulo-Type Precoding for Networks
In this chapter, we address scenarios where the tasks of (modulo-type) precoding for the multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel, network coding with its associated finite-field matrix channel, and channel coding meet or complement each other. By enlightening dualities, similarities, and differences between the areas and corresponding schemes, a deeper understanding of theirmutu...
متن کاملSymmetric Properties and Subspace Degradations of Linear Operator Channels over Finite Fields
Motivated by the communication through a network employing linear network coding, linear operator channels (LOCs) over finite fields are studied with arbitrarily distributed transfer matrices. Some intrinsic symmetric properties of LOCs are revealed and are used to simplify transition matrix computation and input distribution optimization. Subspace coding for LOCs is studied with the help of th...
متن کاملA Method to Reduce Effects of Packet Loss in Video Streaming Using Multiple Description Coding
Multiple description (MD) coding has evolved as a promising technique for promoting error resiliency of multimedia system in real-time application programs over error-prone communicational channels. Although multiple description lattice vector quantization (MDCLVQ) is an efficient method for transmitting reliable data in the context of potential error channels, this method doesn’t consider disc...
متن کاملLinear Network Codes: A Unified Framework for Source, Channel, and Network Coding
We examine the issue of separation and code design for network data transmission environments. We demonstrate that source-channel separation holds for several canonical network channel models when the whole network operates over a common finite field. Our approach uses linear codes. This simple, unifying framework allows us to re-establish with economy the optimality of linear codes for single ...
متن کاملPrediction of Entrance Length for Magnetohydrodynamics Channels Flow using Numerical simulation and Artificial Neural Network
This paper focuses on using the numerical finite volume method (FVM) and artificial neural network (ANN) in order to propose a correlation for computing the entrance length of laminar magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) channels flow. In the first step, for different values of the Reynolds (Re) and Hartmann (Ha) numbers (600<ReL increases.
