In vitro response of two Sicilian genotypes of Morus (L.) through axillary bud culture

چکیده
A protocol for the in vitro establishment of two Sicilian genotypes of mulberry has been set up. Multiple shoots were initiated and plantlets were produced from buds collected from mature trees of Morus alba L. and Morus nigra L., grown in the field. The influence of two explanting times (September and December) of buds on the in vitro response has been observed. The percentage of sprouting after four weeks of culture was greatly higher with material explanted from the field in September compared with the one collected in December. Morus nigra L. produced more vigorous shoots than Morus alba L.. After the second subculture the number of shoots produced decreased, in both genotypes. No differences were observed for both genotypes regarding the multiplication rate.

A reliable method is described for rapid proliferation of axillary shoots from nodal segment of mature field-grown aromatic and medicinal plant Vitex negundo through in vitro culture. Of different concentrations of N6-benzyladenine (BA) evaluated as supplements to Murahige and Skoog (MS) medium, BA at 1mg/l was effective in enhancing bud break and shoot regeneration. Response of explants was al...

Plant regeneration through rapid in vitro clonal propagation of nodal explants of Morus alba L. variety S-1 was established along with genetic stability analysis of regenerates. Axillary shoot bud proliferation was achieved on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium in various culture regimes. Highest number of shoots (5.62 ± 0.01), with average length 4.19 ± 0.01 cm, was initially achieved with medium...

In vitro budinduction and shoot regeneration of Lantana camara L. was investigated using axillary nodal explants. Multiple shoot buds were induced on Murashige and Skoog (MS) media supplemented with 0, 2, 4 and 8 mg/l of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) or thidiazuron (TDZ) for proliferation and 0, 0.25 and 0.5 mg/l indole-3 butyric acid (IBA) for rooting. After 4 weeks, a maximum number of shoot buds...

Plants are valuable sources of a vast array of chemical compounds like alkaloids, flavonoids, pigments, antimicrobials, pharmaceutical, etc. The majority of the compounds were produced by plants during different stages of cell, tissues and organ differentiation. Plant tissue culture is the process by which parts of plant can be grown in vitro condition in a sterile culture medium. The nutrient ...
