چکیده

We consider the ways in which adaptive allocation is altered when some of the observations become unavailable. Such “missing outcomes” are a strong form of censoring. The problems analyzed involve adaptive sampling from two Bernoulli populations. Both fully sequential designs and fewstage designs are examined. For each type of design, we developed an algorithm to determine the optimal design. Prior approaches were ad hoc and did not fully optimize under the censoring assumptions. Perhaps one reason for this is that censoring turns the populations into 3-outcome populations, which increases the complexity of the problem. We also convert designs for uncensored problems into natural designs for the censored problem, and compare to the optimal design.

Congestion estimation of router input ports in Network-on-Chip for efficient virtual allocation

Effective and congestion-aware routing is vital to the performance of network-on-chip. The efficient routing algorithm undoubtedly relies on the considered selection strategy. If the routing function returns a number of more than one permissible output ports, a selection function is exploited to choose the best output port to reduce packets latency. In this paper, we introduce a new selection s...

Adaptive policy of buffer allocation and preventive maintenance actions in unreliable production lines

The buffer allocation problem is an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem, and it is an important design problem in manufacturing systems. The research proposed in this paper concerns a product line consisting of n unreliable machines with n − 1 buffers and a preventive maintenance policy. The focus of the research is to obtain a better trade-off between the buffer level ...

An Injection Rate Optimization in a Water Flooding Case Study with an Adaptive Simulated Annealing Techniques

This paper introduces an effective production optimization and a water injection allocation method for oil reservoirs with water injection. In this method, a two-stage adaptive simulated annealing (ASA) is used. A coarse-grid model is made based on average horizon permeability at the beginning iterations of the optimization to search quickly. In the second stage, the fine-grid model is used to ...

Adaptive call admission control and resource allocation in multi server wireless/cellular network

The ever increasing demand of the subscribers has put pressure on the capacity of wireless networks around the world. To utilize the scare resources, in the present paper we propose an optimal allocation scheme for an integrated wireless/cellular model with handoff priority and handoff guarantee services. The suggested algorithm optimally allocates the resources in each cell and dynamically adj...
