Numerical investigation of the uniqueness of phase retrieval

چکیده
Both a new iterative grid-search technique and the iterative Fourier-transform algorithm are used to illuminate the relationships among the ambiguous images nearest a given object, error metric minima, and stagnation points of phase-retrieval algorithms. Analytic expressions for the subspace of ambiguous solutions to the phase-retrieval problem are derived for 2 X 2 and 3 X 2 objects. Monte Carlo digital experiments using a reduced-gradient search of these subspaces are used to estimate the probability that the worst-case nearest ambiguous image to a given object has a Fourier modulus error of less than a prescribed amount. Probability distributions for nearest ambiguities are estimated for different object-domain constraints.

Absolute Uniqueness of Phase Retrieval with Random Illumination
Random illumination is proposed to enforce absolute uniqueness and resolve all types of ambiguity, trivial or nontrivial, in phase retrieval. Almost sure irreducibility is proved for any complex-valued object whose support set has rank ≥ 2. While the new irreducibility result can be viewed as a probabilistic version of the classical result by Bruck, Sodin and Hayes, it provides a novel perspect...
متن کاملPhase retrieval with background information
Phase retrieval problem has been studied in various applications. It is an inverse problem without the standard uniqueness guarantee. To make complete theoretical analyses and devise efficient algorithms to recover the signal is sophisticated. In this paper, we come up with a model called phase retrieval with background information which recovers the signal with the known background information...
متن کاملAPPLICATION OF THE SINGULAR BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR INVESTIGATION OF PISTON DYNAMICS UNDER POLYTROPIC EXPANSION PROCESS
In this paper a mathematical simulation of a simplified internal combustion engine is presented. To contribute engine kinematics and its geometry, simple relations are derived for constrained motions. The equation of motion for the piston forms a singular boundary value problem. The uniqueness of the solution was studied in the Banach space. For solving governing equations an iterative numerica...

In this paper, numerical investigation of upward two phase flow of air-water has been studied. Different conditions of flow regimes including annular, wispy annular, slug, churn and bubbly are simulated based on Hewitt and Roberts map, and a good agreement between the experimental data of the map and the numerical simulation has been observed. Accordingly, a proper CFD model in CFD software of ...
متن کاملNon-negativity constraints in the one-dimensional discrete-time phase retrieval problem
Phase retrieval problems occur in a width range of applications in physics and engineering such as crystallography, astronomy, and laser optics. Common to all of them is the recovery of an unknown signal from the intensity of its Fourier transform. Because of the wellknown ambiguousness of these problems, the determination of the original signal is generally challenging. Although there are many...
