Shape Registration with Directional Data
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose several cost functions for registration of shapes encoded with Euclidean and/or nonEuclidean information (unit vectors). Our framework is assessed for estimation of both rigid and non-rigid transformations between the target and model shapes corresponding to 2D contours and 3D surfaces. The experimental results obtained confirm that using the combination of a point’s position and unit normal vector in a cost function can enhance the registration results compared to state of the art methods.

Locally Orderless Registration for Diffusion Weighted Images
Registration of Diffusion Weighted Images (DWI) is challenging as the data is a composition of both directional and intensity information. In this work, the density estimation framework for image similarity, Locally Orderless Registration, is extended to include directional information. We construct a spatio-directional scale-space formulation of marginal and joint density distributions between...
متن کاملDPML-Risk: An Efficient Algorithm for Image Registration
Targets and objects registration and tracking in a sequence of images play an important role in various areas. One of the methods in image registration is feature-based algorithm which is accomplished in two steps. The first step includes finding features of sensed and reference images. In this step, a scale space is used to reduce the sensitivity of detected features to the scale changes. Afterw...
متن کاملSPHERE: SPherical Harmonic Elastic REgistration of HARDI data
In contrast to the more common Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI), High Angular Resolution Diffusion Imaging (HARDI) allows superior delineation of angular microstructures of brain white matter, and makes possible multiple-fiber modeling of each voxel for better characterization of brain connectivity. However, the complex orientation information afforded by HARDI makes registration of HARDI images ...
متن کاملWE-E-213CD-03: Inverse-Consistent Symmetric Registration of Inner Colon Surfaces Derived from Prone and Supine CT Colonography.
PURPOSE Robust registration of prone and supine colonie surfaces acquired during CT colonography may lead to faster and more accurate detection of colorectal cancer and polyps. Any directional bias when registering one surface to the other could precipitate incorrect anatomical correspondence and engender reader error. Despite this, non-rigid registration methods are often implemented asymmetri...
متن کاملTrends in the sand: Directional evolution in the shell shape of recessing scallops (Bivalvia: Pectinidae).
Directional evolution is one of the most compelling evolutionary patterns observed in macroevolution. Yet, despite its importance, detecting such trends in multivariate data remains a challenge. In this study, we evaluate multivariate evolution of shell shape in 93 bivalved scallop species, combining geometric morphometrics and phylogenetic comparative methods. Phylomorphospace visualization de...
