چکیده
“WordNet® is a large lexical database of English, developed under the direction of George A. Miller. Nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs are grouped into sets of cognitive synonyms (synsets), each expressing a distinct concept. Synsets are interlinked by means of conceptualsemantic and lexical relations.” (see the project’s web site http://wordnet.princeton.edu/ ) . WordNets have been developed in about 30 languages for some languages more than one WordNet has been developed. There are ongoing project to enhance psycholinguistic and natural language processing usability of WordNet.

Interaction between Lexical Base and Ontology with Formal Concept Analysis
An ontology describes conceptual knowledge in a specific domain. A lexical base collects a repository of words and gives independent definition of concepts. In this paper, we propose to use FCA as a tool to help constructing an ontology through an existing lexical base. We mainly address two issues. The first issue is how to select attributes to visualize the relations between lexical terms. Th...
متن کاملA Fuzzy Ontology Extension of WordNet and EuroWordnet for Specialized Knowledge
The integration of linguistic and domain-oriented knowledge resources is a common task in many current projects with NLP objectives. WordNet and EuroWordNet offer large lexical resources for such purposes. Nevertheless, their exploitation in conjunction with specialized knowledge is still a non-trivial task. We propose to use fuzzy ontologies, which combine Fuzzy Logic theory and Description Lo...
متن کاملBuilding a Chemical Ontology Using Methontology and the Ontology Design Environment
SOFTWARE AND KNOWLEDGE REuse have generated considerable interest because they reduce development time and the resources that projects require. For knowledge-based systems, in particular, the high cost of knowledge acquisition makes reuse essential. However, reuse involves these challenges: heterogeneity of representation formalisms, languages, and tools; lexical and semantic problems; assumpti...
متن کاملUnsupervised Ontology Population Using Latent Semantic Analysis
A large ontology such as lexical ontology is useful as the basic knowledge base in artificial intelligence and computational linguistics application. However, it is insufficient to recognize only existing instances for each concept. Adding new instances into the lexical ontology will expand knowledge in the system. In this paper, we propose an efficient unsupervised ontology population system t...
متن کاملA Learner with a Sense for Quality
A text understanding system with learning capabilities is presented. New concepts are acquired by incorporating two kinds of evidence – knowledge about linguistic constructions in which unknown lexical items occur and knowledge about structural patterns in ontologies such that new concept descriptions can be compared with prior knowledge. On the basis of the quality of evidence gathered this wa...
