222 Chick Anti - Human Blood Group
نویسنده
چکیده
Two contradictory hypotheses regarding the origin of anti-human blood group A and B aggiutiuins have been advanced. According to the genetical theory proposed by Bernstein (3), Furuhata (4), Hirszfeld (5), and by others, these agglutinin~ are in* herited by linked gene pairs, each representing a blood group antigen and its complementary antibody. Thomsen (6) considers anti-?, and anti-B agglutinins to be physiological products, the function of the blood group gene being specific inhibition of production of homologous antibody. Other authors notably Dupont (7), Armangu6 (8), Wiener (9), and Kabat (10), and in a quite general way Boivin, Corre, and Lehoult (11), contend that these antibodies result from contact with exogenous crossreactive and homologous antigens. They base their contention on the widespread distribution (12, 13) of blood group antigens and blood group cross-reactive substances in nature. Most sera from heterologous species contain species-specific antibodies which agglutinate all types of human erythrocytes (of. reference 10). Bailey (14) found agglutinins against the erythrocytes of numerous animals and man occurring in 16 to 30 day old chicks and thought that they were inherited. Specific "natural" anti-human blood group aggiutinins occur in many animals. In chicks they have apparently been observed first by Schiff and Adelsberger (15) and by Eisler and Howard (15). In more recent studies, they have been found regularly by Baer, Bringaze, and McNamee (17) and by Baer (18), who studied anti-human blood group A and H(O) agglutinins, by Iseki, Onuki, and Kashiwagi (19), who investigated anti-human blood group B agglutinins, and independently by us (2). In agreement with several authors (15, 20),

Flufenamic acid promotes angiogenesis through AMPK activation.
Angiogenesis plays critical roles in development, tumor growth and metastasis. Flufenamic acid (FFA) is an anti-inflammatory agent known to alter ion fluxes across the plasma membrane. Its role in angiogenesis has not been fully addressed to date. Here, we report that FFA treatment promotes angiogenesis both in vitro and in vivo. Applying FFA for 12 h promoted tube formation of human umbilical ...
متن کاملEffects of Recombinant Human Erythropoietin Pretreatment on Anti-HLA Antibody Titer: A Preclinical Experience in Rats
Background: Erythropoietin (EPO) was first known as a factor for red blood cell proliferation and differentiation. New studies show the effects of EPO on immune system. Objective: In this study, the effects of pretreatment with recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) on the anti-human leukocyte antibody (anti-HLA) titer were determined. Methods: Three groups of rats were sensitized with human...

This study aimed to investigate the anti-angiogenic activity of Vitex agnus castus methanol extract in vivo. Eggs were incubated for three days, small whole made on the fine pinpoint, next day the egg’s sac penetrated and a small frame was made in the shell. The window was resealed and eggs were returned to the incubator until day 10 of chick embryo development, 20 µl of 500mg/ml of the methano...
متن کاملThe Effects of Recombinant Human Erythropoietin (rHuEPO) on Antihuman Lymphocyte Antibodies Titer in Sensitized Rats
Erythropoietin (EPO) was first known as a factor for red blood cell proliferation and differentiation. Recent studies show the effects of EPO on immune system. In this study the antihuman leukocyte antibody (anti-HLA) titer were determined in five groups of rats, which had been sensitized with human lymphocyte. Also, the effects of stimulation's frequency and dose of recombinant human erythropo...
متن کاملIn Vitro and in Vivo Anti-tumor Activity of miR-221/222 Inhibitors in Multiple Myeloma
A rising body of evidence suggests that silencing microRNAs (miRNAs) with oncogenic potential may represent a successful therapeutic strategy for human cancer. We investigated the therapeutic activity of miR-221/222 inhibitors against human multiple myeloma (MM) cells. Enforced expression of miR-221/222 inhibitors triggered in vitro anti-proliferative effects and up-regulation of canonic miR-22...
