چکیده

Methods Adult sheep (40kg) were subjected to ischemia reperfusion injury (LAD for 45 min). Six animals underwent invivo CMR 10 days after surgery and were euthanized on the next day for exvivo CMR and histopathological examination. Invivo CMR included: black blood T2 and 2D LGE (in-plane resolution 2mm). Animals were euthanized 10 min after injection of Gadolinium. Heart specimens were sliced and imaged exvivo using a high resolution 3D LGE (isotropic resolution of 0.6mm). Heart specimens were then fixed for histological analysis (HE and Masson trichrome).

Characterization of peri-infarct zone heterogeneity by contrast-enhanced multidetector computed tomography: a comparison with magnetic resonance imaging.

OBJECTIVES This study examined whether multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) improves the ability to define peri-infarct zone (PIZ) heterogeneity relative to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). BACKGROUND The PIZ as characterized by delayed contrast-enhancement (DE)-MRI identifies patients susceptible to ventricular arrhythmias and predicts outcome after myocardial infarction (MI). METHODS...

Magnetic resonance imaging of infarct-induced canonical wingless/integrated (Wnt)/β-catenin/T-cell factor pathway activation, in vivo.

AIMS Combined magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of molecular and morpho-functional changes might prove highly valuable for the elucidation of pathological processes involved in the development of cardiac diseases. Our aim was to test a novel MRI reporter gene for in vivo assessment of the canonical Wnt/β-catenin/TCF pathway activation, an important regulator of post-ischaemic cardiac remodelling...

Characterization of the peri-infarct zone by contrast-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is a powerful predictor of post-myocardial infarction mortality.

BACKGROUND Accurate risk stratification is crucial for effective treatment planning after myocardial infarction (MI). Previous studies suggest that the peri-infarct border zone may be an important arrhythmogenic substrate. In this pilot study, we tested the hypothesis that the extent of the peri-infarct zone quantified by contrast-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is an independent pred...

DNA Damages on Blood Cells After Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: Along with the increased use of cardiac imaging at clinics there is increased attention to the potential risks related to the methods used like magnetic resonance (MR) and it cannot be ruled out that MR can alter DNA structure. The aim of this review is to assess the impact of routine cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) scanning on DNA damages in human T lymphocytes....

Characterization of Post-infarct Scars in a Porcine Model - A Combined Experimental and Theoretical Study

Arrhythmias are often associated with healing infarcts and could arise from the border zone of the scars. The main purpose of this work was to characterize the infarct scars using in vivo electro-anatomic CARTO maps (recorded in sinus rhythm) and high-resolution ex-vivo MR images in a porcine model of chronic infarct. The MR images were segmented into scar, peri-infarct and healthy ventricular ...
