چکیده

The recent advances in knowledge base research and the growing importance of effective knowledge management raised an important question of knowledge base equivalence verification. This problem has not been stated earlier, at least in a way that allows speaking about algorithms for verification of informational equivalence, because the informal definition of knowledge bases makes formal solution of this problem impossible. The goal of this paper is to provide an implementable formal algorithm for knowledge base equivalence verification based on the formal definition of knowledge base given in [24, 26, 28, 29] and to study some important properties of automorphic equivalence of models. We will describe the concept of equivalence and formulate the criterion for the equivalence of knowledge bases defined over finite models. Further we will define multi-models and automorphic equivalence of models and multi-models that are generalization of automorphic equivalence of algebras.

Knowledge Bases and Automorphic Equivalence of Multi-models versus Linear Spaces and Graphs

The paper considers an algebraic notion of automorphic equivalence of models and of multi-models. It is applied to the solution of the problem of informational equivalence of knowledge bases. We show that in the case of linear subjects of knowledge the problem can be reduced to the well-known in computational group theory problems about isomorphism and conjugacy of subgroups of a general linear...

2 00 3 an Algebraic Approach to Knowledge Bases Informational Equivalence

In this paper we study the notion of knowledge from the positions of universal algebra and algebraic logic. We consider first order knowledge which is based on first order logic. We define categories of knowledge and knowledge bases. These notions are defined for the fixed subject of knowledge. The key notion of informational equivalence of two knowledge bases is introduced. We use the idea of ...

Logically automorphically equivalent knowledge bases

Knowledge bases theory provide an important example of the field where applications of universal algebra and algebraic logic look very natural, and their interaction with practical problems arising in computer science might be very productive. In this paper we study the equivalence problem for knowledge bases. Our interest is to find out how the informational equivalence is related to the logic...

Log-Linear Models, Toric Varieties, and Their Markov Bases

My goal in this chapter of lecture notes is to introduce the class of loglinear models and study them from the algebraic perspective. There are at least three different ways to introduce log-linear models: in statistics they are also called discrete exponential families and in algebraic geometry they are known as toric varieties. Our goal is to introduce these models from all three perspective ...

Planning Equivalence Proofs

Di erent axiomatizations of mathematical concepts prove to be useful in a mathematical knowledge base, since each axiomatization of a concept is more or less helpful for the task at hand. To keep the knowledge base consistent, the equivalence of distinct de nitions for some concept must be formally proven. Especially in algebra, where various axiomatizations of an algebraic structure often occu...
