چکیده

Symmetry is treated as a continuous property and a Continuous Symmetry Measure (CSM) of structures is de ned. The CSM of a structure is de ned to be the minimummean squared distance required to move points of the original structure and change it to a symmetrical structure. This general de nition of a symmetrymeasure enables a comparison of the amount of symmetry of di erent shapes and the amount of di erent symmetries of a single shape. We describe a general method of obtaining the minimal distance to the desired shape and apply it to any symmetry element or symmetry group in two or three dimensions. Various examples of the application of the CSM approach to structural chemistry are presented. These include symmetry analysis of distorted tetrahedra and of rotating ethane, symmetry analysis of contours of equi-property such as molecular orbital representations, reconstruction of incomplete structural data and symmetry analysis of structures with uncertain point-location, such as encountered in x-ray data analysis.

A Computational Study to Find the Vibrational Modes Connected with Specific Molecular Structures of Calculated Compound

The purpose of this research is to provide a deeper understanding of the planar high- symmetry configuration instability. In the ideal case, the distortion corresponds to the movements of nuclei along normal modes that belong to non-totally symmetric irreps of the high symmertry (HS) point group of molecule. The analysis of the structural distortion from the HS nuclear arrangements of the JT ac...

Calculation of Buckling Load and Eigen Frequencies for Planar Truss Structures with Multi-Symmetry

In this paper, the region in which the structural system is situated is divided into four subregions, namely upper, lower, left and right subregions. The stiffness matrix of the entire system is then formed and using the existing direct symmetry and reverse symmetry, the relationships between the entries of the matrix are established. Examples are included to illustrate the steps of the method.

Computational determination of character table and symmetry of fullerenes cage as C24 and C28

Fullerene chemistry is nowadays a well-established field of both theoretical and experimental investigations‎. This study considers the symmetry of small fullerenes cage C24 and C28‎. ‎Using PM3 program for C24 and C28 fullerenes, Oh and Td symmetry were confirmed, respectively‎. ‎ The mentioned algorithm to compute the automorphism group of these fullerenes with connectivity and geometry of th...
