چکیده
The objective of this study was to characterize and validate the candidate point mutation in Calcium channel, voltagedependent, alpha-2/ delta subunit 1 (CACNA2D1) gene in Karan Fries (Bos taurus x Bos indicus) cattle. The CACNA2D1 gene reported as one of the potential candidate gene influencing Somatic cell Score and Mastitis. A PCR product of 249 bp amplifying the exon 19 and partial 18 and 19 intronic region of CACNA2D1 gene was digested with Hae III restriction enzyme to screen the reported point mutation. A monomorphic banding pattern with genotype AA was found in Karan Fries cattle. Sequencing was also carried out to characterize and explore insilico screened mutation in the nucleotide sequence of a particular region. The result indicates highly conserved sequence in Karan Fries cattle. The Phylogenetic tree revealed that Karan Fries cattle were closer to Bos taurus cattle, Bos mutus (Yak), and Bison bison (American buffalo) compared to other species.

Polymorphism of Prion Protein Gene (PRNP) in Iranian Holstein and Two Local Cattle Populations (Golpayegani and Sistani) of Iran
Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is a fatal infectious neurodegenerative disease in cattle, characterized by the accumulation of an abnormal, proteaseresistant prion protein (PrPSc) in the brain. BSE is similar to scrapie in sheep and goats and Creuzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans. Susceptibility in cattle hasbeen shown to be under the influence of two polymorphic locations, which are...
متن کاملDNA polymorphism of leptin gene in Bos indicus and Bos taurus cattle
Leptin plays an important role in the regulation of feed intake, energy metabolism, growth and reproduction of cattle. We used the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique to screen for DNA polymorphisms of the leptin gene in 403 cattle belonging to various breeds of Bos indicus (Hariana, Sahiwal, Gir and Nimari cattle), Bos taurus (Holstein Friesi...
متن کاملCSN1S1 Gene: Allele Frequency, and the Relationship with Milk Production Traits in Three Indigenous Cattle Breeds and Holstein
CSN1S1is one of the major genes encoding milk proteins of mammals. In this study we determined allele frequencies of CSN1S1-5` flanking region as well as exon 17 variants and their effects on milk traits in three indigenous cattle breeds Mazandarani, Golpaygani (Bos indicus) and Sarabi (Bos taurus) and Holstein cattle in Iran. CSN1S1*B variant was nearly fixed in Holstein but ranged from 0.40 t...

The study was carried out on eight Bos indicus cattle breeds namely, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, Nimari, Khilari, Deoni, Amritmahal, Hariana and Hilly cattle; two Bos taurus cattle breeds namely, Jersey and Holstein Friesian and Indicine×Taurine crossbred cattle to find out the polymorphic pattern of beta-lactoglobulin gene. The polymorphism at beta-lactoglobulin gene was detected by conducting PCR-RF...
متن کاملEffect of marbling degree on beef palatability in Bos taurus and Bos indicus cattle.
This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between marbling score and breed-type (Bos taurus vs < or = 1/4 Bos indicus) on palatability of cooked beef. One thousand six hundred sixty-seven steers and heifers (1,337 Bos taurus and 330 Bos indicus x Bos taurus crosses) that had been managed and fed alike were used. Shear force and tenderness rating indicated that meat from Bos indicus c...
