Amplification of Growth Inhibition by Glucocorticoid on L5178Y and Li 2i 0 Lymphoblasts in Vivo1

چکیده
apparent with a physiological level of glucocorticoids of about 0.3 @tMin humans, as shown in experiments on hepatoma cells (4) and L5i 78Y cells(6)in vitro,Factor1 maypossiblyenhance the effect of physiological levels of glucocorticoid in vivo and thus may itself have the therapeutic effects of glucocorticoid. In this work, we examine (a) the effect of Factor 1 on the growth inhibition by glucocorticoid of the solid form of L51 78Y cells and the ascitic form of Li 210 mouse lymphoblasts in vivo and (b) whether Facton i itself enhances the effect of physio logical levels of glucocorticoid sufficiently to inhibit growth of these lymphoblasts in vivo in order to investigate the clinical use of Factor 1 instead of glucocorticoid.

Amplification of growth inhibition by glucocorticoid on L5178Y and L1210 lymphoblasts in vivo.
One component of a factor in Proteus mirabilis (Factor 1) which specifically amplifies the induction of several liver enzymes by glucocorticoid in target cells also increases the growth inhibition of glucocorticoid on the ascitic form of L1210 cells and solid tumors of L5178Y lymphoblasts in vivo. The growth of L5U78Y and L1210 lymphoblasts was inhibited by a triamcinolone acetonide dose of ove...

L-Asparagine is responsible for a major portion of the effect of peptone on the growth of L5178Y lymphoblasts in culture and is essential for the reproduction of these cells. Among the compounds tested, the requirement for the amide is replaced only by certain peptide derivatives of asparagine, and these are less active on a molar basis than is L-asparagine; L-aspartic acid, D-asparagine, and L...
متن کاملThe Effects of Phenylalanine Ammonia-Lyase on Leukemic Lymphocytes in Vitrol
Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, which irreversibly deaminates phenylalanine and tyrosine, markedly inhibited the growth of human leukemic and murine L5178Y lymphoblasts in vitro but had a negligible effect on resting (nondividing) normal lymphocytes. These studies also demonstrated that phenylalanine ammonia-lyase inhibited DNA synthesis in leukemic cells at least as effectively as did asparaginas...
