چکیده

This work presents the abilities in estimation and prediction of the octanol–water partition coefficient of some para-substituted phenols through the integration of complex structures information by the use of an original molecular descriptors family on the structure–property relationship approach. The proposed approach uses the complex information obtained from para-substituted phenols structure in order to generate and calculate the molecular descriptors family. The structure–property relationship models were built based on the generated descriptors. The obtained multi-varied models (model with two and four descriptors, respectively) were validated through the assessment of the crossvalidation leave-one-out score. The comparison between the multi-varied model with two and four descriptors was performed using Steiger’s Z-test. The analysis of the statistical characteristics of the obtained models demonstrated that the model with four descriptors has greater ability to estimate and predict compared with the model with two descriptors. This observation was also sustained by the results of correlated-correlation analysis. The multi-varied model with four descriptors revealed that the octanol-water partition coefficient of studied para-substituted phenols is likely to be of geometry nature, it is strongly dependent on the partial charges of compounds and group electronegativity, and it is in relation to the elastic force. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. QSAR models to predict physico-chemical Properties of some barbiturate derivatives using molecular descriptors and genetic algorithm- multiple linear regressions

In this study the relationship between choosing appropriate descriptors by genetic algorithm to the Polarizability (POL), Molar Refractivity (MR) and Octanol/water Partition Coefficient (LogP) of barbiturates is studied. The chemical structures of the molecules were optimized using ab initio 6-31G basis set method and Polak-Ribiere algorithm with conjugated gradient within HyperChem 8.0 environ...

Molecular Descriptors Family on Structure Activity Relationships 6. Octanol-Water Partition Coefficient of Polychlorinated Biphenyls

Octanol-water partition coefficient of two hundred and six polychlorinated biphenyls was model by the use of an original method based on complex information obtained from compounds structure. The regression analysis shows that best results are obtained in four-varied model (r = 0.9168). The prediction ability of the model was studied through leave-one-out analysis (rcv(loo) = 0.9093) and in tra...

Application of Graph Theory: Relationship of Topological Indices with the Partition Coefficient (logP) of the Monocarboxylic Acids

It is well known that the chemical behavior of a compound is dependent upon the structure of itsmolecules. Quantitative structure – activity relationship (QSAR) studies and quantitative structure –property relationship (QSPR) studies are active areas of chemical research that focus on the nature ofthis dependency. Topological indices are the numerical value associated with chemical constitution...

QSAR analysis of soil sorption coefficients for polar organic chemicals: substituted anilines and phenols.

Based on descriptors of n-octanol/water partition coefficients (logKow), molecular connectivity indices, and quantum chemical parameters, several QSAR models were built to estimate the soil sorption coefficients (logKoc) of substituted anilines and phenols. Results showed that descriptor logKow plus molecular quantum chemical parameters gave poor regression models. Further study was performed t...
