چکیده

We have developed a series of benchmark programs to test the performance of the Mach operating system. A discussion of the philosophy of the benchmarks is given, and the individual benchmark programs are described. Results of the benchmarks on 386-based machines running Mach 2.5, Mach 3.0, and SCO System V/386 are given. Appeared in: Proceedings of the USENIX Mach Workshop, 1990, 83-100.

In-Kernel Servers on Mach 3.0: Implementation and Performance

The advantages in modularity and power of microkernel-based operating systems such as Mach 3.0 are well known. The existing performance problems of these systems, however, are signi cant. Much of the performance degradation is due to the cost of maintaining separate protection domains, traversing software layers, and using a semantically rich inter-process communication mechanism. An approach t...

A preconditioned solver for sharp resolution of multiphase flows at all Mach numbers

A preconditioned five-equation two-phase model coupled with an interface sharpening technique is introduced for simulation of a wide range of multiphase flows with both high and low Mach regimes. Harten-Lax-van Leer-Contact (HLLC) Riemann solver is implemented for solving the discretized equations while tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) interface sharpening method is applied ...

Maintainability measure based on operating environment, a case study: Sungun copper mine

The life cycle cost of a system is influenced by its maintainability. Maintainability is a design parameter, whose operational conditions can affect it significantly. Hence, the effects of these operational conditions should be quantified early in the design phase. The proportional repair model (PRM), which is developed based on the proportional hazard model (PHM), can be used to analyze mainta...

Mathematical Method and Thermodynamic Approaches to Design Multi-Component Refrigeration Used in Cryogenic Process Part I: Optimal Operating Conditions

Abstract: Minimizing the work consumed in refrigeration system is the most effective measure to reduce the cost of products in sub-ambient chemical processes. The introduction of mixed working fluids into refrigeration system in place of pure working fluids is a recent advancement applied in the field. Due to the lack of systematic design method for Mixed Refrigerant Cycle (MRC), conventional a...
