Blood Destruction during Exercise
نویسنده
چکیده
A definite increase in the percentage of reticulocytes occurs after exercise in animals previously kept to a sedentary life. Concomitant changes in the hemoglobin percentage, plasma-cell ratio, and red count offer evidence in addition to that already reported by the author of the occurrence of an increase in blood destruction under such circumstances. Replacement by transfusion of blood destroyed during exercise prevents the reticulated cell reaction. Animals rendered plethoric and then exercised show no increase in reticulated cells while the plethora persists. The fact is emphasized that exercise must be an important factor in the maintenance of an efficient hematopoietic tissue.

Bone biochemical marker response to a plyometric exercise session with and without blood flow restriction in inactive adolescent females
Background and Aims: Physical activity and blood flow restriction (BFR) training can affect bone metabolism. This study aimed to investigate the effect of a plyometric exercise session with and without blood flow restriction on bone metabolism markers, such as bone alkaline phosphatase (BALP) and C-terminal telopeptide of type 1collagen (CTX), as the markers of bone formation and destruction, ...
متن کاملI. Blood Changes Occurring in the Course of a Single
The studies of Rous and Robertson 1 have shown that normally the destruction of erythr0cytes is accomplished, in part at least, by a process of fragmentation in the blood stream. There is evidence that the breaking up is the result of mechanical injury. Among physiologic conditions which would favor such disintegration, vigorous exercise at once suggests itself. Both the increased rapidity of b...
متن کاملBlood volume: importance and adaptations to exercise training, environmental stresses, and trauma/sickness.
This paper reviews the influence of several perturbations (physical exercise, heat stress, terrestrial altitude, microgravity, and trauma/sickness) on adaptations of blood volume (BV), erythrocyte volume (EV), and plasma volume (PV). Exercise training can induce BV expansion: PV expansion usually occurs immediately, but EV expansion takes weeks. EV and PV expansion contribute to aerobic power i...
متن کاملEffect of blood flow restriction on metabolic rate and fat oxidation during and after high-intensity intermittent exercise in active male students
Background and Aims: Given the role of blood flow restriction in causing more hemodynamic stress, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of blood flow restriction on the metabolic rate and substrate oxidation during and after high-intensity intermittent exercise (HIIE) in male active students. Method: For this purpose, 10 male active students, selected and in a cross-over de...
متن کاملEffect of Ramadan fasting and triangular exercise progressive on the vigilance, mood and blood glucose in trained athletes
Purpose: This study has for objective the assessment of the vigilance, mood states variations and the blood glucose levels, during a triangular effort progressive in trained athletes during Ramadan fasting (RF). Methods. Ten trained male athletes aged 21.8 ± 1.1 years are evaluated before (B.RF), during (1st, 2nd and 3th week) and after Ramadan fasting, in the blood-glucose, vigilance, and mo...
