چکیده

The paper describes a representation formalism for the description of products and the associated reasoning mechanisms for the configuration of complex products in a virtual store where a customer (potentially non expert of the domain) has to be supported in the task of selecting and assembling a product. We present FPC, a conceptual formalism where both taxonomical and partonomical relationships can be modeled and complex constraints among components and sub-components can be described by means of a constraint language. Two inference mechanisms have been defined: hypothesis formulation for hypothesizing the set of complex products a set of components can be part of. Hypothesis validation verifies whether it is possible to build an instance of a complex product which includes all the components chosen by the customer by taking into account the taxonomy, the partonomy, the constraints among components as well as the user requirements. This mechanism is also able to point out which components have to be added in order to properly configuring the product. The paper discusses how the combination of hypothesis formulation and hypothesis validation can be used for supporting a customer in selecting and configuring a product. The domain of Personal Computers and their related components is used as a test bed of the system.

Method of Video-Measurements of Traffic Flow Characteristics at a Road Junction

In the theory of traffic flows the main characteristics are: intensity, speed, and density.  They make it possible to use hydrodynamic models. In connection with the development of modern highways and road networks, traffic flows behavior is becoming more and more complex and diverse. In particular, the B.Kerner studies have shown that the laminar solution of hydrodynamic models is poorly corre...

The Study of Stage Description (Didascalia) in Tennessee Williams’ One Act Plays

Stage Description or, as Michael Issacharoff says, Didascalia, is a unique characteristic of Drama which has been part of plays from the beginning of the tradition of playwriting in mankind’s history. Didascalia in modern plays has found a complex function, helping playwrites as a technical tool as well as creating a richer vision of the characters, transfer plot in a betterr way, showing the c...

User-Adaptive Configuration of Products and Services

Configuration systems are key tools in the sales of complex services and products because they support the dynamic generation of solutions. However, such systems, typically designed for expert users, are too technical for the average customer of a Web store. As a solution to this issue, we present a model for the integration of Intelligent User Interfaces and Configuration techniques. This mode...

A Two-phase Model for Product Design Development and Evaluation and Supplier Selection in Product Configuration Change Process (Case study: SUPCO)

A supply chain is composed of a complex sequence of processing stages, ranging from raw materials supplies, parts manufacturing, components and end-products assembling, to the delivery of end products. In the context of supply chain management, supplier selection decision is considered one of the key issues faced by operations and purchasing managers to remain competitive. Therefore, requiremen...
