of the auditory ossicles in chronic otitis media patients. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out in 30 ears with chronic otitis media. All cases underwent an axial multidetector computed tomography imaging study. In addition to the axial images, sagittal and coronal multiplanar two-dimensional reformations and three-dimensional reconstructions were generated. Auditory ossicles were assessed in two-dimensional multiplanar images and three-dimensional reconstructions and compared with surgical findings. Results: Diagnostic value of three-dimensional reconstructions were equal or lower to two-dimensional images for evaluation of the ossicular chain. Suprastructure of the stapes was difficult to visualise on the three-dimensional images. Conclusion: Three-dimensional reconstructions are not useful in preoperative evaluation of the ossicular chain in chronic otitis media patients.

Surgically Cured, Relapsed Pneumococcal Meningitis Due to Bone Defects, Non-invasively Identified by Three-dimensional Multi-detector Computed Tomography
A 43-year-old Japanese man presented with a history of bacterial meningitis (BM). He was admitted to our department with a one-day history of headache and was diagnosed with relapse of BM based on the cerebrospinal fluid findings. The conventional imaging studies showed serial findings suggesting left otitis media, a temporal cephalocele, and meningitis. Three-dimensional multi-detector compute...
متن کاملThree-dimensional reconstruction of New Zealand rabbit antebrachium by multidetector computed tomography
The aim of this study was to reveal biometric peculiarities of New Zealand white rabbit antebrachium (radius and ulna) by means of three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images. Under general anesthesia, the antebrachiums of a total of sixteen rabbits of both sexes were scanned with a general diagnostic MDCT. Biometric measurements of the reconstructed...
متن کاملMetastatic Adenocarcinoma of Temporal Bone with Collet-Sicard Syndrome
Introduction: Metastatic tumors of the temporal bone are extremely rare. Collet-Sicard syndrome is an uncommon condition characterized by unilateral palsy of the lower four cranial nerves. The clinical features of temporal bone metastasis are nonspecific and mimic infections such as chronic otitis media and mastoiditis. Case Report: This report describes a rare case of metastatic adenocarcino...

Background: To evaluate computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) fusion images for delineating gross tumor volume (GTV) in three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) of nasophanrygeal carcinoma (NPC), and compare treatment outcomes between CT- and CT+MRI-based targets. Materials and Methods: A total of 120 NPC patients treated with 3D-CRT were included, in which, 60 ...
متن کاملThe feasibility of direct treatment planning via contrast-enhanced computed tomography: an evaluation of dose differences based on the dimensional dose distribution comparison method
Background: We used a MapCHECK software-based dimensional dose distribution comparison method capable of evaluating point-to-point geometrical dose differences in volume to determine whether doses obtained from an enhanced computed tomography (CT)-based treatment plan, which better defines the target regions and organs at risk, differs from doses obtained from plain CT and then evaluated the fe...
