چکیده
1 33 6 165 Yes 1 yr. Complete recovery Alterations in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) cir culation may follow subarachnoid hemorrhage a! though the frequency and extent to which this occurs is unknown. Accurate definition of these abnormali ties is important because in some instances they result in symptomatic communicating hydrocephalus (1 ,2) . Current methods of assessing the patency of the subarachnoid space and ventricular size in dude pneumoencephalography and ventriculography. These techniques provide excellent anatomic de tail but give little direct information about the func tional integrity of the CSF circulation. CSF pressure measurements often are of no help because they may be normal in the presence of marked ventricular dilatation (3). Radioisotope cisternography has been shown to be useful in the study of CSF circulation in a variety of disease states (4,5) . The purpose of this report is to describe the cisternographic patterns of CSF cir culation in nine patients 1—6months after subarach noid hemorrhage. METHODS AND MATERIALS

Lactate and pyruvate concentrations, and acid-base balance of cerebrospinal fluid in experimentally induced intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhage in dogs.
The effect of blood injected into either subarachnoid space or subcortical brain tissue upon lactate and pyruvate concentrations as well as acid-base balance of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was studied in the anesthetized dog. CSF lactate and lactate/pyruvate ratio (L/P ratio) increased progressively following the intracranial injection of blood and reached the maximum level at six hours after inj...
متن کاملSubarachnoid Hemorrhage Presenting with Seizure due to Cerebrospinal Fluid Leakage after Spinal Surgery
Cerebrospinal fluid leakage may commonly occur during spinal surgeries and it may cause dural tears. These tears may result in hemorrhage in the entire compartments of the brain. Most common site of such hemorrhages are the veins in the cerebellar region. We report a case of hemorrhage, mimicking aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage due to a cerebrospinal fluid leakage following lumbar spinal sur...
متن کاملThe intrathecal CD163-haptoglobin–hemoglobin scavenging system in subarachnoid hemorrhage
Delayed cerebral ischemia resulting from extracellular hemoglobin is an important determinant of outcome in subarachnoid hemorrhage. Hemoglobin is scavenged by the CD163-haptoglobin system in the circulation, but little is known about this scavenging pathway in the human CNS. The components of this system were analyzed in normal cerebrospinal fluid and after subarachnoid hemorrhage. The intrath...
متن کاملCompressive Cervicothoracic Adhesive Arachnoiditis following Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Case Report and Literature Review
We present the case of a 55-year-old woman with diffuse adhesive arachnoiditis in the posterior fossa and cervicothoracic spine following posterior inferior cerebellar artery aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). She underwent aneurysm clipping with subsequent gradual neurologic decline associated with sensory disturbances, gait ataxia, and spastic paraparesis. Magnetic resonance imaging re...
متن کاملThe effect of a simulated subarachnoid hemorrhage on cerebral blood flow in the monkey.
The hydrogen clearance method was used to measure local and total cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the rhesus monkey before and for five hours after a simulated subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). CBF remained stable after SAH unless SAH was associated with a fall in cerebral perfusion pressure. In addition, cerebrovascular resistance did not increase after SAH. These results suggest that vasoactive age...
