Minimizing Harmonics Values in Non-Uniform Step Asymmetric CMLIs

-This paper introduces a general mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model for determining the switching angles of non-uniform step asymmetric cascaded multilevel inverters (CMLIs) that minimize the undesired harmonics values. The proposed model could be applied as well for uniform step asymmetric CMLIs. The model is applied first to compare two 21-level asymmetric CMLIs : one is uniform step and the other is non-uniform step and shows lower percentage total harmonic distortion (%THD) for the non-uniform step one. Then the model is applied for two cases taken from the references of CMLIs with unequal values of the dc sources, which may considered as nonuniform step asymmetric CMLIs and shows lower %THD values.
