چکیده
A variety of in ltration techniques can be used to fabricate solid materials, particularly composites. In general these processes can be described with at least one time dependent partial di erential equation describing the evolution of the solid phase, coupled to one or more partial di erential equations describing mass transport through a porous structure. This paper presents a detailed mathematical analysis of a relatively simple set of equations which is used to describe chemical vapor in ltration. The results demonstrate that the process is controlled by only two parameters, and . The optimization problem associated with minimizing the in ltration time is also considered. Allowing and to vary with time leads to signi cant reductions in the in ltration time, compared with the conventional case where and are treated as constants. Physical Backwash Optimization in Membrane Filtration Processes: Seawater Ultrafiltration Case
Seawater ultrafi ltration (UF) as a pretreatment of reverse osmosis (RO) process in a thermal power plant was investigated using a 100 kDa hollow fi ber membrane. The choice of the UF physical backwash conditions remains arbitrary or ensuing from a sensibility study. As the optimum must take into account the factors interactions, we led a response surface study to analy...
متن کاملDEVS Approximation of In ltration using Genetic Algorithm Optimization of a Fuzzy System
The in ltration process is generally described by a nonlinear di erential equation, which can be solved by iteration methods such as a Newton-Raphson method. In this paper we propose a Discrete Event System Speci cation(DEVS) model for Green-Ampt in ltration. We show that this model can be approximated using Genetic Algorithm optimization of a fuzzy system. The fuzzy approximation is shown to b...

Due to the impact of climate change, the process of salinity intrusion occurs frequently in coastal areas of Vietnam. The main objective of this study is therefore to try diff erent nanofi ltration (NF) processes (such as single-stage and dual-stage NF) to treat brackish water for residential areas in Thu Bon river basin, where the salinity varies signifi cant with seas...
متن کاملProcess Capability Analysis in the Presence of Autocorrelation
The classical method of process capability analysis necessarily assumes that collected data are independent; nonetheless, some processes such as biological and chemical processes are autocorrelated and violate the independency assumption. Many processes exhibit a certain degree of correlation and can be treated by autoregressive models, among which the autoregressive model of order one (AR (1))...
