AppaDB: an AcedB database for the nematode satellite organism Pristionchus pacificus
نویسندگان
چکیده
Pristionchus pacificus is a free-living nematode of the Diplogastridae family and was recently developed as a satellite system in evolutionary developmental biology. AppaDB, a P.pacificus database, was created (http://appadb.eb.tuebingen. mpg.de) to integrate the genomic data of P.pacificus, comprising the physical map, genetic linkage map, EST and BAC end sequence and hybridization data. This developing database serves as a repository to search and find any information regarding physical contigs or genetic markers required for mapping of mutants. Additionally, it provides a platform for the Caenorhabditis elegans community to compare nematode genetic data in an evolutionary perspective.

متن کاملThe nematode Pristionchus pacificus (Nematoda: Diplogastridae) is associated with the oriental beetle Exomala orientalis (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) in Japan.
Pristionchus pacificus has been developed as a nematode satellite organism in evolutionary developmental biology. Detailed studies of vulva development revealed multiple differences in genetic and molecular control in P. pacificus compared to the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans. To place evolutionary developmental biology in a comprehensive evolutionary context, such studies have to be co...
متن کاملPristionchus.org: a genome-centric database of the nematode satellite species Pristionchus pacificus
Comparative studies have been of invaluable importance to the understanding of evolutionary biology. The evolution of developmental programs can be studied in nematodes at a single cell resolution given their fixed cell lineage. We have established Pristionchus pacificus as a major satellite organism for evolutionary developmental biology relative to Caenorhabditis elegans, the model nematode. ...

In the last decade, nematodes other than C. elegans have been studied intensively in evolutionary developmental biology. A few species have been developed as satellite systems for more detailed genetic and molecular studies. One such satellite species is the diplogastrid nematode Pristionchus pacificus. Here, I provide an overview about the biology, phylogeny, ecology, genetics and genomics of ...
متن کاملNematodes of the genus Pristionchus are closely associated with scarab beetles and the Colorado potato beetle in Western Europe.
Evolutionary developmental biology examines how changes in developmental programmes give rise to developmental and, ultimately, morphological novelty. To this end, comparisons of related but distinct organisms have to be performed. The diplogastrid nematode Pristionchus pacificus has been developed as a satellite system for a detailed comparison of various developmental processes to the model o...
